Sure. But the OP is not complaining about his yard. He is complaining about it raining so he can’t go outside and exercise.
And does going out and exercising necessarily mean on a paved surface? It doesn’t usually mean that for me and the Firebug.
Not sure. I gave up exercising when I retired from the AF ![]()
But yeah, it rained so much he couldn’t exercise in his water-soaked yard. I’ll go with it.
Damn you rain!!!
Nothing to say aside from a salute to the thread title.
Except he says it like it’s a bad thing!
OMG the weather. I feel like I’ve been kidnapped by Seattle! Four straight days of rain, and the storm isn’t even due here until Friday!
Grump, gripe, grumble, growl!
Oh Lord, this again? As a lifelong Northern Virginia resident, let me set y’all straight.
Acceptable:
Near DC (this is the primary go-to for all actual residents)
DC region (this goes right up to Baldimer, so a little wider catchment)
DC Metro (rarely used in such a way as to be confused with the subway system)
Washington
Washington Metropolitan Area (for newscasters, mainly)
NCR (allowed only if both people are wearing ID badges with this designation)
Not Acceptable:
DMV (Seriously? The most hated of all government bureaucracies? No!)
DelMarVa (This applies to the peninsula only, never to the city or suburbs. DelMarVa = beach)
Tri-State-Area (That’s up North, where the Sopranos dump the corpses)
ROFL!
I’ve never heard ANYONE say it. Don’t go blaming this pile of feces on Virginia! ![]()
Also, it sounds too much like “DMZ”, a reference which makes some veterans very uncomfortable.
I have to admit, DMZ was my first thought. (Demilitarized zone, for those too young to have heard the term)
Shoulda got the Tru Coat.
Well, if you read Mumber’s thread on moving away from the area, there’s a good population of former DMV-ers (myself included) who found the area as joyful and harmonious as trips to the actual DMV, so the simile is actually pretty good for those folk who aren’t fans of the place. ![]()
Weather guy where I live reported a whopping 6% humidity today.
Had to share: Today I actually saw someone refer to Olde Towne Alexandria as “The OTA.”
Bless his heart.
