Not that I am an expert, just the most unusual.
I was in line at the store, and the woman in front of me had a backless dress… which was probably on purpose, so she could show off the studs she had in the skin above each scapula.
Not one I’ve seen before. Anybody beat that for oddity?
Surface piercings aren’t really all that strange. My favorite non-traditional piercings are those that fit into a tattoo somehow. I know a guy with a snake tattoo where the snake’s eyes are the jewel balls on either end of a surface piercing. That and a hand grenade tattooed on a dude’s chest with the “pin” being the jewelry in his nipple piercing.
I’ve seen pics of a uvula piercing. It was only maintained long enough for photos.
Can someone explain to men how studs like that stay in place? I assume they are similar to an earring stud, with a back to hold it in place, but I’m guessing it doesn’t really work that way for something embedded in the skin?
For surface piercings, a straight or curved rod (barbell) enters and exits the skin something screwed on at each end. Upper/lower lip piercings have a back piece or the rod penetrating the skin is a small corkscrew that is threaded into the hole.

I saw a woman once with a “Corset” piercing. Basically they were loops all the way down the sides of her back which could be laced up like a corset.
And in trying to find an example for you I stumbled upon a whole bunch of them. Holy cow! What makes people do this to themselves?
Oh, goodness…those are all tame as hell. Look up the various iterations of genital piercing for some serious bizarre.
I’m thinking of permanently bedazzling my testicles. That way, when not in use for ‘other things’, I can stand on a ladder in the middle of a dance floor and make a little money as disco balls.
There was a guy who worked at a restaurant I went to once who had pierced the bridge of his nose - sounds weird but he had really pale hair and blue eyes and it just kind of worked - really suited him.
A tattoo artist friend of mine wanted a Prince Albert piercing, but was too shy to have someone else drive a needle through his penis. He did his own.
I find (some of) those really, **really **sexy myself. YMMV.
The real issue is that they only stay really, really sexy for an hour or so, then one of the temp. piercings or twenty is bound to get infected and it’s all downhill from there.
Wow, those make my skin crawl just looking at them. I keep thinking about how they will get tugged out.
I have a dermal anchor on my upper cheekbone. They are quite different than surface piercings and I would guess she had the anchors.

I googled the corset piercings and found this unusual one (the one on the right) (also mildly NSFW). When she’s laced up her piercings, her legs are tied together. So she obviously can’t walk around laced up. I suppose she and her partner might enjoy the effect during sexy times but even then having your legs tied together is going to eliminate some possibilities.
The important thing is knowing when to stop. This guy didn’t.
I just used water soluble glue and put rye grass seeds on mine.
