The "When Will Cam Newton Give the Heisman Back" Pool

This is college football, the athletes are amateurs. That means they can’t be paid anything, ever, for anything, that could remotely be related to them playing football in a multi-billion dollar entertainment industry.

Of course, we also cannot suggest they are being taken advantage of, because they receive a scholarship from the school. A scholarship worth tens of thousands of dollars that they should be very thankful for getting, even though it is definitely NOT compensation for playing football.

Seems to me, that ship has sailed. You’re not going to shock me by telling me that blue-chip college athelete get “special benefits.”

**mkecane **- no need to exercise your smilies … I was just ball-busting, just kidding around … relax.

There’s a fine line between better dining halls and getting paid cash. There are still obvious violations of the rules that will get programs punished and Heisman Trophies returned.

I think you meant to say:

Ay, Caesar; but not gone.

No, but he did steal a dude’s laptop.

No, according to your link he did not steal a laptop. Read the five pages of police reports and the letter that follows in your link. Then you will be informed that the burglary charges were dropped and, as stated above, Cam Newton was charged with receiving stolen goods, charges that were later dropped in accordance with him enrolling in and completing a youthful offender program.
