I think we all just need to <wait for it> bear with the OP…I’m sure he’ll eventually get to the point of the debate. I mean, doesn’t a bear (even a white bear) shit in the woods?

There are no woods in the Arctic ice, therefore the white bear does not shit in the woods. It goes on the floe.
