I see that Sua Sponte has quite ably disposed of the main point to be made here, but the actual answer to the question is that the computer of the Mod. or Admin. who banned putz would thereafter continually crash through the removal of the posthumous blessing of Wally.
No tyranny here. “Tyranny” implies that it’s forced upon people. And I don’t know anybody who can’t just shut down the computer and take a walk instead of posting to the SDMB…

You seem to be missing one little possible motive for asking “why was insert poster’s name banned?”
For example: I asked this very question in the Hamburger Helper thread. I did not ask this in order to challenge a mod’s authority, or to challenge the validity of the ban. I asked this in the hope that someone would provide me with a link to a thread where said banned poster did whatever got them banned. I enjoy seeing some troll get torn to bits by other dopers. It’s one of the things that make The Pit such a happy shiny place.

Hey, I’m with Zaphod. I check out the “Why was [insert banned poster here] banned?” threads, because they often include links to the last thread posted to by the offending poster. I personally like to watch the banned crash and burn, and be picked apart by the surrounding Dopers. The Mod doing the banning almost always has a great comment, as well. So apart from the fact that they take up space on the board, I have no problem with these threads.
Hilarious OP, by the way. I’m still waiting for the Banned Poster Mad-Libs[sup]TM[/sup] to show up.
