Oh huh, I asked you about these earlier and I thought you said you listened to them. Difficulties in trying to be vague I guess.
The game is intentional to the extreme, don’t worry about this.

Let us know when you have all lasers on and enter the mountain!
Well, I still have the last village puzzle, with a stack of three hexagons. It’s obviously one where you have to follow the path of the shadows, but that doesn’t give you a full path. The logical conclusion would be that the saboteur has gotten to it (I don’t think any of the prior puzzles along that path had been sabotaged, and it seems to be the saboteur’s style to hit the last or penultimate puzzle of any given puzzle-sequence), but I also can’t see any evidence of sabotage, either right there nor anywhere around it.
So, reluctantly, I went on down into the mountain. I finished the first test chamber, but was kind of disappointed with it: Most of those puzzles weren’t hard, per se, just annoying. Likewise with the first line of puzzles in the second test chamber. But these cumulative puzzles, now those are properly brain-twisting.
Oh, and I also found that blue path through clouds that I was looking for. I had figured that it had to be somewhere on the mountainside, but I couldn’t get to the right spot. I hadn’t noticed that, where the path goes over a tree-roots bridge, there’s another path up from there. That location also yielded another one of those things I mentioned last post, and also one of those loose puzzles with the adjacency triangles.
I’m beginning to wonder about those loose puzzles. First of all, you don’t see that mechanic anywhere else, and second, all of those puzzles are super easy. And even though they hum when you solve them, like they’re activating something, they never seem to do anything. Is the real challenge for them meant to just be noticing that they’re there, and they’re just for increasing your puzzle-solved count for those who want 100%?
Oh, one other thought, that I’ve been meaning to post for a while: The game has a grand total of TWO Steam achievements. One of them is for finishing the game, and the other is secret, and has fewer people having done it. I can think of a few possibilities for that one: It could be activating all of the lasers, or finding all of the environmental puzzles, or getting all of the videos or audio players, or possibly for getting absolutely 100% of everything. 5.1% of players have that achievement, but that could be consistent with the players who looked up guides online (I’m sure those exist, and most of this game would be trivial if you were just handed the solution).
OK, and now I’m really annoyed. I reached the “finish” much quicker than I expected, and the last save point is after that last pair of doors close and apparently can’t be re-opened, and the last save point before that is way back in the first test chamber. So now, if I want to go back and explore the things I missed before, I’m going to have to go through the second and third test chambers, and part of the first, all over again.
Please tell me that there’s something I’m missing, here.
There’s also apparently a lot of underground stuff I missed. I know of at least two exits from the underground, other than the way you come in, and I didn’t see any of those before reaching the finish.
From my recollection, there was no issue with where it autosaves you at the end of the regular game. But, I do recall a bit where it looks like you’re trapped, and might need to redo some puzzles to get out but there is a pressure pad or minor puzzle thing that opens a doorway on the side.
And yes the underground aka caves is pretty big and it’s a bunch of extra hard challenges / stuff needed for full completion.
Ah, I see it. The “close doors” switches were at the top, but the “open doors” switches are at the bottom. Crisis averted.
I’m still not sure how I find the rest of the underground, though. Although… come to think of it, I do have one idea.
Last post of the night, honest. I realized the obvious thing that I should have noticed sooner about that last puzzle in the village, and I got that laser (and another environmental in the process). I’ve now solved every puzzle I’ve found.
And I’ve thought of… four? Five? different possibilities for opening up other underground areas, and none of them have worked.
Inspired by this thread, I’m replaying the game again from the start. I previously had 100% completion (though I did look up solutions to the last 3 or 4 environmental puzzles).
I’m not looking forward to trying to get into the caves, as I remember that being a PITA to figure out, and I don’t remember how I finally got in.
After my restart, I managed to get two lasers going (the sandstone area before the desert, which I think was my first one last time, and the castle with the mazes). I was one puzzle away from completing the temple, and I think I’m also one puzzle away from completing the desert ruins.
Yesterday I wound up pulling up and reading my 2017 play-through thread, and saw a clue for the last temple puzzle. Apparently I had to look that one up last time, and I never would have thought of it this time either, but now I have the temple laser going too.
According to my 2017 notes, I breezed through that greenhouse building on the side of the mountain, but I’m stuck there now.
As far as the desert ruins, I think I’ve only got that 2x5 puzzle in the bottom level to complete, but I can’t figure out how to activate it. I’ve done all the other puzzles in that room, the last one being the horizontal one that floats up and down with the water level. But completing that puzzle didn’t seem to activate the next one.
The blue luminescent wires indicate the order in which you have to solve the panels. I don’t recall that they try to trick you. If you really got all of them, the door will open.
There is an elevator you have to use to get all the way up.
Right… my problem is with the flat horizontal panel, I can’t tell if there is a lit-up blue cable coming out of it, or where it goes. It didn’t activate the 2x5 panel with the diagonals, which looks like it’s the only one left in the room, but maybe I’m still missing one. I need to go back and take another look.
I haven’t even gotten to the elevator, I’m still trying to finish the puzzles outside the locked room on the first floor. Again, there’s obviously something I’m not seeing since my earlier notes said getting through this building was a piece of cake. I notice when you look at the panel inside the locked room, the colors of the dots change depending on if you’re looking through the yellow glass or the blue door , and I’m thinking that might be a clue to solving the last panel outside that room
Let me know when you’ve done the elevator, because I want to comment but any comment would spoil it
You beat it? Wow, you did fly through the final area. I found the ending stuff pretty doable, but hard.
The post-game stuff, though, was really fun and was the true culmination of my knowledge.
I was kind of surprised when I won, because everyone was saying how vast the underground was, and I saw so little. And I still don’t know how to get to all the rest of it. I found:
I can’t find anything in all of that that leads anywhere else. I tried running around pushing against everything, in case there was a gap I missed. I tried sending the elevator down while it was already at the bottom, and up when it was already at the top. I tried sending the elevator away empty from both ends, and trying to walk into where it was. I tried activating all 11 lasers in the outerworld, in hopes that the last one would unlock something. I tried looking for potential alternate solutions to puzzles, that would lead elsewhere. I can’t find anything. But I know there’s definitely more, not just from all of you mentioning it, but because I’ve seen the other sides of doors that open from the inside.
IIRC, the entrance to the rest is in the room just outside the final room? Something to do with a statue kneeling over a puzzle?
I guess I can go check this.
eta: yes.
I think I know what you’re talking about (except he’s sitting on the floor, not kneeling), but the puzzle is inactive. It’s just a blank black screen. Going into puzzle mode and clicking it doesn’t do anything, either. So I need to find what activates that puzzle.
There are wires coming out of it.
It goes farther (further?) than you might assume
The wires go into the floor. One probably follows a crack in the floor, and then comes out in the water, and then goes up an arched pillar. There are two other arched pillars with what might be inactive wires on them (as well as two with what might be active wires, on the other side), but there’s no indication of where the wires go beyond that: They presumably go into the solid rock, at which point they could potentially come out anywhere at all on the island. The other wire immediately goes into the solid-rock floor with, likewise, no indication of where it’s going. For what it’s worth, the previous room has clear walls with boulder-filled gaps beyond them, and there’s no indication of the wire in there.
So basically, I’m no closer to finding it. Somewhere, there’s something that activates that wire, and hence that puzzle, but I have no idea whatsoever where that something is.
Vague hint: It goes up
Also: You have to have seen the other end of the wire
OK, so one of my guesses WAS (mostly) right:
You do, in fact, need all 11 lasers activated. But of course that’s not enough.
