No imagination required, although some of those looks are less frilly than others.
They can call what they like but to the uninitiated Abortion Liberation Fund sounds like a pro life group that wants your money.
See post #59. I have no doubt the Abortion Liberation Fund will be perfectly willing to receive financial contributions from abortion-rights opponents who are confused about the organization’s aims, though.
The new name sounds confrontational to me. I would have expected them to go with “the abortion assistance fund”, or some such.
Yeah, it sounds militant, and that’s something I usually associate with anti-abortionists. So that throws me off a little on the name.
ALF? What does that mean? No one knows, they could state the mission in the name,
Abortion Medical Fund.
Inquire within, by referral only?
The ambiguity is more a PR issue than explicitly a trans issue?
Sure, I’m fairly certain that most clinics would indeed serve those groups. I’m also pretty sure that some of them have staff and/or management with different demeanors when dealing with certain of those groups than with others.
I just happen to be a cis-male, but if I were in a situation where I needed to terminate a pregnancy, or needed the funds to do so, I’d much rather be assisted by someone like Kimstu as opposed to someone like yourself or that nasty Demon Tree. The end result might be the same, but blacks still got to their destinations when sitting in the back seats as well.
Oh those nasty women you can’t help but hate and put down. Got it.
I have no idea what your gender is, but I do believe that DT is indeed a woman. Sadly for you my disgust isn’t for women (or men), but instead reserved for transphobes and their ilk. Much like I’m disgusted by the racists who claim that black people didn’t go thirsty, as they had water fountains too. Fuck them and fuck you (although that’s probably redundant).

? So you were just trolling DMC to try to “trigger” him? Congratulations on your achievement, I guess?
You mean to say A nasty woman can’t respond without being called a troll!
Nice try!
It’s the pit vent your spleen if it feels good.
Have at it @kimstu
Speaking for myself, I had no idea you were a woman. Your nastiness is however plain for all to see.
Show us your nastiness DC!
Did you think DMC was calling you a “nasty woman”? Because he didn’t, AFAICT.
He implied that your attitudes on some of these issues were somewhat similar to those of another poster whom he did call “nasty”. But if you jump to the conclusion that that equates to calling you personally a “nasty woman”, I think you’re the one who’s being “triggered” here.
To be fair, I called DT nasty precisely because of her transphobia, so it’s only fair that chela assumed I would think the same of them due to their transphobia.
That’s how I first interpreted it: as a prolife/antiabortion fund. How is it supposed to be obvious when liberation is by definition is the act of setting someone free from something?
Oh just keeping score on issues then? Making sure the nasty women stay in their place? Fuck you to their ilk and all that as @DMC put it so plainly.
Here is the WMF/ALF newsletter where they announce their planned name change. AFAICT, the organization’s mission also includes broader aims of reproductive justice and liberation in general, especially with regard to obstacles faced by POC. Which may be how the term “liberation” got into the new name.
The newsletter also includes what looks like a kickass recipe for peach cobbler. I’m not so sure about the vegan-oatmeal-creme-pie one.
How is anybody here “making sure you stay in your place”? DMC mildly insulted you by saying he wouldn’t want you, or another poster whom he described as “nasty”, as a care provider if he were a transgender man needing an abortion.
As insults go, that’s really pretty mild for the Pit. And given that a lot of the people denouncing transphobia in this thread are women, and that none of the people disagreeing with you are in any way suppressing your freedom to respond, I really don’t think you have much chance of spinning this as a case of misogynistic silencing.
As a cisgender woman who supports trans rights, I get really tired of terfy types implying that they speak for “women” in general, or that disagreement with or disdain for their views is automatically misogynistic.
