Someone out there must know this - my wife and I were discussing over a midnight snack…
Why do Oreo’s taste so good with milk?
I’m not looking for a subjective response - is there a physical reason why the taste of Oreo cookies are complemented by the taste of milk? Clearly some foods taste better when eaten with others - do they hit the taste buds the same way? - how does this work?
Thanks - I’ll be able to sleep now.
:o
They’re even better with Coke …
Yes, I’m serious. Try it.
Potatoes and milk.
Toast and jelly and milk.
And guess what, peanut butter and buttermilk (the kind of peanut butter that’s just peanuts and salt, ie Laura Scudder’s, not the kind with sugar and partial hydrogenation)[/hijack]
[attempt at answer] Sweet-and-fat go together richly, ie the cream in milk and the sugar in Oreos. Other sweet-and-fat: chocolate milk, doughnuts, hard sauce, pies, cakes, ice cream, cereal with milk & sugar, etc etc.
This answer is off point if you are drinking skim milk, which also goes very well with Oreos.
So, also the milk dissolves the Oreo crumbs and spreads the chocolate around in your mouth. Then it clears the tastebuds and makes them ready for more fresh chocolate in the next Oreo. [/attempt at answer]
I think MaryEFoo is correct in regards to the taste is better because the cookie is disolved.
I eat my oreos with cold water and they taste just as good.
I just tried Oreos and Coke. While it wasn’t gross, I don’t think that it was as good as with milk.
