the WTC Simpsons episode

I’m sure the episode (IIRC) where Lisa thinks she’s turning stupid will have at least one scene cut - Bart and Homer sitting on the couch watching “When Buildings Collapse”. Especially the line when Lisa mentioned that there were people in the buildings, which made Bart and Homer laugh.

What about the episode where the Simpsons go to Australia, and really take the piss out of them?

I’m kinda surprised taht this thread hasn’t been moved to the Cafe Society, that is the only board that doesn’t have a thread that has to do with the WTC and D.C attacks(as far as I know). This has alot to do with the Simpsons now, with all the sidetracking to other episodes. But you’re somewhat right, BingoBurringo, this episode is probably not going to be aired very often(Who would just throw away such a great episode?)and that episode Jet Juaguar spoke of probably will have that scene cut. So many things will have to be changed just because some bastard was angry at our country and wanted to destroy our economy and government before they declared war.(Hopefully not WW3 though)

I can only hope your all wrong about this. I can’t imagine giving the murderous bastards responsible a greater victory than to have Americans start changing the way they live. Considering the importance of your entertainment industry in US history, and in defining your nation both internally and to the rest of the world it would be a serious blow if ‘Hollywood’ started doctoring movies and TV episodes as a result of this tragedy.

Celebrate the architectural achievement that was the WTC. Acknowledge the role it played in US culture. Most of all remember the tragedy that the cost the lives of thousands of people and took one of your great landmarks.

I think it will probably be on again. I’m in Canada but I distinctly remember seeing the epsiode in which Marge’s fear of flying is explored on a local station about three days after Swissair Flight 111 went down a half hour out of town. I guess it’s up to the people who control syndication schedules.

I hadn’t thought about it, but…the “We’re going to New York!” episode of “The Simpsons” aired in syndication on my local Fox affiliate on Monday evening. Spooky.

And we certainly can’t watch the opening of The Critic without a twinge.

Yeah, I was thinking of the “When Buildings Collapse” thing too, Jet. Especially Lisa’s line, “Yeah, maybe people got hurt,” which feels a bit creepy.

It would be very odd to watch the NYC episode of Simpsons. And a shame if they got rid of it, not that I loved it, but I did like the crab juice scene. And the Betty Ford Center musical scene. Still, the whole thing is so eerie now.

Are they cancelling the whole show “24” or just the advertisements for it, does anyone know?

my wag is it will be edited

Its on the schedule on the 24th for people in Kansas City on ch.38. We’ll see what happens, Ill keep you posted.
-PSM

Changing our lives and ways would play right into the terrorist hands.

Questions though kind of stupid but here goes…Since it is a cartoon couldn’t they just re-edit it with new cartoon footage.

I mean it is just a voice over.

Also if we pull that what about the other movies like Die Hard or the second King Kong.

Wasn’t there also a movie where a plane crashes into the capitol?

NOTE: I AM NOT BEING THOUGHTLESS OR CRUEL.

Don’t you think this is going a bit far? I mean, seriously, The Simpsons is a cartoon, and a great one at that. Why should we have to edit our entertainment because some sick fuck (pardon that) crashed planes into the WTC? Markxxx is right too, what next? Cut all shots out of films and tv that feature the buildings? No way. Leave it alone. The jokes aren’t in poor taste. The jokes were funny then, and still are. Just because of what happened doesn’t make them suddenly offensive.

They’ll just edit it out. It’s quite easy, all episodes are shot a little longer than necessary so that they can be tweaked to fit different affiliates’ commercial break schedules. Cutting out one joke here or there is done all the time. They won’t scrap the episode. Those things aren’t cheap to make, and are currently worth a gold mine in syndication. I know that sounds cynical, but I’m just saying Fox would rather shelve it for a while. Nothing worth money ever gets destroyed intentionally by a network.

The episode can easily be shown with Homer’s offending comment edited out. I’d be surprised if every TV show that featured the Trade Center in a prominent role were permanantly shelved.

Just saw on CNN that the trailer has been pulled.

This is probably my favorite episode and i hope it won’t be pulled off the air!! oh well, i have it on tape anyway

“Tangent”?

This is really more of an IMHO thing. I’ll shuttle it off there, but not before opining that I hope they keep it.

Homer’s car on the street by the Plaza will be, minor geographical inaccuracies notwithstanding, one of my many enduring happy images of the Trade Center.

I’m sure we could think up dozens of examples where WTC references might seem spooky in retrospect. The first one that came to my mind was Notorious B.I.G.'s song “Juicy,” which contains these lyrics:

which of course references the 1993 bombing.

Reading my copy of Sports Illustrated today, I saw an ad for a movie with Arnold that’s coming out this fall. I can’t recall the title. It seems to be about a fireman whose wife and child are murdered by terrorists. Does anyone else know anything about this? My guess is that it will be shelved for several years.
