I ever strive merely to facilitate and illuminate, not belittle nor score points, and I try to choose words which best fit and flow; admittedly, since English has so many of them I prefer to expand from the same old vocabulary. Pray, think of it as a harmless hobby of mine.

If you find me to be supercilious and arrogant, then I can only try harder not to be. However, I feel you mischaracterise me somewhat: I don’t believe I have ever referred to anyone as a defective mutant throwback save, perhaps, for Sir Alex Ferguson.

If I may ask, please review some of the threads The_Broken_Column has been involved in: I sincerely hope that you can understand that he is not simply a random member who I have arbitrarily decided to have a go at, but that his sanctimonious and randomly selective bunkum is genuinely in need of disposal in order to reveal a useful future board member. Otherwise he will almost certainly go the way of TVAA, whose arrogance caused him to be banned.

I am human, Logic. Indeed, one manifestation of my humanity is the mannerism of being so irked by a jumped-up little knobhead that I had to write a Pit thread about him.

There was no attempt to mischaracterise you, and I’m surprised you feel that way. It’s not I who want to rant about every member who arrives at the Straight Dope or to rally against the countless members who arrived here with a supercilious and arrogant mien, eager to blind us all with their supernoval brilliance. Those who alude to circumstances, which bestowed upon them superior learning and expertise on various subjects.

As for the rest of what you say? Sure it’s easy to be irked at others, and to reply in anger or frustration. It’s harder still to try to either understand them, or understand what it is that makes them reply the way they do. In such ways do people fight ignorance, and illuminate.

I will read more of the threads that you suggest, I hardly think it will cause me to rant as you have. Surely that’s the action of a desperate mind?

However, note that I do not rant about every member with a bad attitude; indeed I am often the one who speaks with patience and compassion when others are castigating the unfortunate member as an utter barmpot.

For some strange reason, Sentient Meat even refers, reverentially, to some person dredged up from ancient history called “eg. Coll”.

Is Sentient Meat nothing more than a worshipful acolyte of that obnoxious buffoon Coll, a person who has been twice banned from the SDMB and, as far as I am aware, has never been missed by anyone with an ounce of Nous.

Who cares how many posts you, as a member, has achieved. That does not give you any additional standing to judge a Doper with fewer posts, such as The_Broken_Column?.
