This is it. Another smart person leaving this board. I have had it. Some of you just bait people with titles like “When will myth based religions like Christianity be gone” or some such nonsense. And then others feel that if you don’t agree with them personally then you are “fill in the blank of whatever hate group”. Some of you are just boring. The reason I joined this board was because I thought maybe intelligent conversations would prevail. But sad to say, the vast majority of you are more stupid and narrowminded than the people I speak with on another board who have alot less education. At this point I am wondering about how many of you lie about your level of education and your jobs. Such as maybe the doctors are really not doctors, etc.

Can I please get a refund on the subscription? i don’t think it is fair that you can’t. Once intelligent people have their eyes opened, they will be screaming to get the hell out of here.
Who is the person that left the board, IOW what event has upset you so much? As for “narrow minded idiots” they are everywhere, you cannot really avoid them completely. It is up to you to enjoy life, and continue to learn and grow even though they exist. If you are going to shake your fist angrily about the events on this board, please at least also provide links or more specific examples so the reader will fully understand what you are upset about.
Are you suggesting that we hid all the “bad” threads for thirty days before you were required to pay a subscription, only to turn loose our “real” nature once we had your money?
This place has its characters and loons and even its haters. It also includes a lot of people who are more educated and thoughtful. Since we have your money for the next eleven or twelve months, why don’t you try dipping your toe in from time to time to see whether you find the current crop of threads over the next year as offensive as the ones that have riled you at this point? A lot of this stuff goes in waves, with particular topics and attitudes prevailing, based on either current events or the moods of the Teeming Millions.
Wait a minute? Cow gets three polite and informative replies and one informative but testy reply from one of our more irascible posters and that is enough to send Cow running from the board?

One aggressive response caused her to throw in the towel? :eek: How do you cope in the real world if you don’t mind me asking, Mrs O’Malley’s Cow? This place is bound to have people stating differing ideas/opinions/life experiences. Some do so more aggressively than others. You also encounter this in face to face interactions. I think maybe there is more to this then we can see, and that a combination of stresses in your life is affecting how you percieve the exchanges in that thread. Can you take a cool down period and then come back to see how you feel?
It’s fair because you might have noticed while reading the board before you subscribed that Dopers can argue about just about anything and everything. Religion? Piffle. You shoulda caught some of the really juicy blowouts over declawing cats, circumscision, telemarketers and date rape, not to mention which cartoon super hero could kick another’s ass.
Fun stuff, for those who can bear people having different opinions.

You do realize, I hope, Cow, that by launching an attack on the whole of the board in the Pit, you have invited every smart-ass and easily offended poster who wanders by to take a shot at you, personally. If you find that the responses to this thread confirm your low opinions of the board, I would have to say that the OP is going to be an act of self-fullfilling prophecy.)
You might want to check into what **Blake ** posted, he can come off as an abrasive Ass but he usually is pretty accurate about what he posts. In spite of coming across insultingly, it might well be helpful. Of course I would agree that **Blake ** could use a course in communications but ignore the tone of his post and check into the content.
