I don’t think it’s fair that you can’t read the user agreement before you pay your $15. Oh, wait, you can. Perhaps you should have done so.
Seriously, that thread sent you over the edge? A discussion about vegetable proteins? Maybe it’s better that you aren’t around for the next discussion about tipping. That shit gets ugly fast.
Wow. You’ve been here for all of a month- how much weeping and moaning do you expect over your exit?
It’s also completely ridiculous to quit the board over threads you don’t like instead of, you know, staying out of them. But there you have it, I guess.
Mrs O’Malley’s Cow,
Hon, Don’t kick the bucket and start a big fire now. I remember when I was really new to computer conversations about 7 years ago. This was my first message board experience, and , sometimes, I would get really worked up about the way some presented themselves online; just thought they were pretty rude, and that was so foreign to my mind.
After many years, as an outskirt mindset of Buddhist vegetarian liberal wiseass, I continue to read (more) and participate here because it is the best place I’ve found to get excellent information, with immense knowledge. I learn way more here than I contribute; as a newbie, would suggest that you ramble around a bit before posting willy-nilly. There are many fine minds here. Relax, and look around a bit.
Mrs O’Malley’s Cow, when you pulled out the tired old conservative defense-mechanism cliches of “I have black friends”, “that teacher is a loony liberal” and “the women’s studies professor couldn’t handle my reality when I told her not all men were rapists” in the false-accusations thread, I knew your claim to be an open-minded fence-sitter was a little dubious. Now I know what’s up, especially since you’re saying that because people are left-leaning instead of right they must be lying about their jobs and education.
If you feel you don’t mix well with this board, I hope you find one you’re happier in. Sorry you spent $15 or whatever the new member fee is. I’ve wasted a lot more money on things that did me a lot less good, but maybe you haven’t.
To the cow’s defense, you’ll note that he said “I’ll give you free professional advice” in that thread.
Though he’s new, I would like to say for the record that I had already noticed that he was annoying and dumb. Now we learn he’s whiney to boot; I’m not seeing this as an enormous loss for us.
Thanks, though, to whoever confirmed that his username was erroneous. Everyone knows that it was Mrs. O’Leary’s cow who didn’t actually start the Chicago fire, but I was wondering if this was some sort of related cultural reference or something. Turns out the dude just screwed up when signing up.
Fuck, I spent parts of five years around Chicagoland, and I still didn’t notice that screwup. :smack: I just thought “oh, cow = fire.” Does this mean we can’t say he’s kicked over a lantern and burned his bridges?
Look, I’ll try to buck the trend of this pile on but I don’t think I can do much.
Ms. Cow, I like you. I like your username, I’ve noticed some good posts around, and I do honestly wish that you would consider sticking around. That said, this particular example in GQ is a clear instance where you didn’t know exactly what you were talking about and some people called you on it with varrying degrees of politeness.
I consider myself to be a fairly clever lad as well and certainly I’ve gotten smacked down in GQ as well.
Just don’t take it personally. Take a week to cool off or whatever and then please consider coming back.
