There have been a couple of threads in the past few months on the subject of PMS, by gals looking for advice on how to treat it.
PMS is a horrible, bad, evil affliction that can be almost crippling. Imagine for a week out of every month that you fly into a tear-filled rage at everything that annoys or angers you. Imagine your boobs hurt for the last three days of that week. You feel bloated. You’re tired. Everything seems to ache.
I have defeated the evil PMS.
I’ve been using a combination of natural progesterone cream, available at a health food store near you, along with evening primrose oil and Dong Quai.
It’s generally recommended that you start using the progesterone cream starting the twelfth day after the start of your last period and keep using it until the twenty seventh day. Of course if you’re cycle is longer or shorter than twenty-eight days, you can adjust by a day or two each way.
I start with the dong quai and evening primrose oil the same day I start with the progesterone cream, but keep taking it until a couple of days into my period- I still have symptoms until a couple of days in.
This is the second month I’ve been using the progesterone cream. The evening primrose and dong quai alone didn’t seem to help much. I think the progesterone got my hormones under control enough that the other stuff could do their thing.
So far, nary an unjustified tear, and my job situation has been really unstable lately, so I’ve been under a lot of stress. My breasts don’t hurt a tenth as much as they used two around this time of month, I’m not nearly as bloated and achey.
Just thought I’d file a report for the rest of you PMS sufferers who have tried almost everything…
I’ve found something that works.
