Very possibly.* But if we start to see a fair number of attempts to make other anti-Trump, anti-Putin posters look bad (as “crybabies” or what-have-you) via pitting about non-Trump, non-Putin-related thread posts, then we might want to give the matter a closer look.
*And let’s not forget that among the ranks of people who actually are paid to post in a trolling-the-left fashion, there are bound to be a number of genuine assholes, possessing fuses of indeterminate length.

And CarnalK’s head asploded for no particularly good reason; why wouldn’t a paid poster want to see progressives squabbling over the oddness of someone making a whole Pit thread over something as anodyne as ThelmaLou’s remark in the Ken Burns-doco thread? Certainly there’s no proof that a paid poster made the thread, but can we assert that such is impossible?

And despite some kind words, ThelmaLou is quite obviously in the shrieky stupid section of anti-Trump progressives here. Certainly, there’s no proof you are being paid to spout paranoid crap but I hope so because otherwise you are just being ridiculous on your own.
I’m all for happy feelings of fellowship between you and CarnalK, or any other pair of posters, for that matter.
But why the upswelling of emotion about the possibility that the attack on ThelmaLou was motivated by something other than sincere horror over her post in the Ken Burns thread? I haven’t spent time checking TA’s posts, I will admit …
…Okay, I just looked. I’ll concede that this does appear to be a particularly stroppy and quarrelsome person–not that no paid poster has ever employed such a persona, of course. Combative personas often are used to gain attention quickly, particularly on the more youth-oriented boards (which this is not). Still, there’s no proof that this is an impersonation.
But I don’t see your basis for ruling out the possibility—can you expand on that?

The Thelmalou post he got worked up about is concerning a 50 year ago war that is hardly likely to stir up many feelings.
The SDMB is a sad place for a paid troll to set up shop. It’s not easily shared/multiplied and is pretty low on the internet totem pole.
Your whole idea is based on the fact that ThelmaLou doesn’t like Trump so a newb attacking her is automatically suspicious. Despite the fact that 90% of the people on here hate Trump.
