This was a 1988-89 TV series starring Timothy Daly. I’m almost sure that the theme was a James Brown song. Does anyone know which one?
I’ll bet it was “Almost Grown” by Chuck Berry. Verses end with “…anyway we’re almost grown…!” A little before even my time.
Chuck Berry usually doesn’t sound a whole lot like James Brown, though I can think of a few songs he did where there is some resemblence. Berry’s song Havana Moon does contain one heart-stirring “Owwww!” which probably has about as much pure soul as everything JB did put together.
