It's time for a "Name that TV Theme song game"

Here are the rules, you finish the lyrics correctly, and then, in the same thread, you post part of another TV Theme song. You must state at least four words in the lyric to your TV show and the guess has to finish the sentence in which the given words are part of.

Here we go:

“Show me that smile again _ _ _ _ _ _ _…”

(Ohhhhhh show me that smile)
Don’t waste another minute of your cryin’

Which was part of the theme to Growing Pains.
This one’s obscure so I’ll give you 2 lines:

Let me ask a question
You can make a guess

Errr, sorry, don’t really want to play but just wanted to say thanks for getting that freakin growing pains song stuck in my head.

You win for obscurity, Abbie. I think three people actually watched Grand.

Let’s see…

What kind of world will they create,
facing the problems of man?
Thousands of years haven’t solved them,
but all of them think they can.

I gave a whole verse because, frankly, it’s even more obscure than your pick, Abbie.

HAHA, it was in mine and that was what got this thread started. It is like the plague… It spreads and spreads until everyone is miserable.

Grand was a great show.

jayjay, I looked up your lyrics because I had NO idea. Never heard of the show, either.

I won’t post it since I cheated, but wow. You weren’t kidding when you said it was obscure.

Heh…a co-worker mentioned it when Lost was starting to break out, as a “they’ve done that already” type show, so I did the research a couple of months ago on that. I figured this was an excellent time to be pulling out the obscure knowledge card.

Is there one on the table to guess? I can’t see it, so I offer one to the group. I defy you to guess what show this is:

“This is the theme to Gary Shandling’s Show”

Since nobody will be able to get that one, here’s a more reasonable offering:

“preaching from my chair”

I’m not entirely sure this one’s fair, though. Once answered, perhaps the OP can rule.

“Who Are You?” by The Who–theme from CSI.

This thread is better suited for Cafe Society.

I’ll move it for you.

Cajun Man
for the SDMB

Here’s another one:

Turn on the lights from heaven, Lord
Shine on me

Turn on the light from heaven, Lord, shine on me, shine on me
Turn on the light, set me on the right road
Help me find my way, Lord
Turn on the light from heaven, Lord
Shine on me
Shine on me

That’s Amen, with Sherman Helmsley.

I’m frightened that I knew all that.

Let’s try this one:

Together, we’re gonna find our way
(You and I) together, taking the time each day…

“to learn all about those things you just can’t buy”

Silver Spoons!

And here:
Your friends will be there when your back is to the wall

Is the line “preaching from my chair” ever heard in the show’s intro? Assuming it isn’t, can we use lyrics from the theme song if they aren’t in the opening? If it’s a made-for-the-show theme song, I would guess no, but if it’s an actual song that was coopted to be a theme song, I’d say yes. But I’m not the OP, so it’s not my call.

Also, I just thought of one, but I don’t know the one on the table, so I’ll refrain.

The lyrics from the song mentioned in the thread must be part of the intro in the tv show. sorry for not clarifying

21 Jumpstreet
Here’s mine:
I see a red door and I want it painted black

Paint it Black, used by Tour of Duty as its theme song.

A recent one, just for the heck of it:

Living here in Jersey…

I can’t answer any of the hanging ones but here is my offer…
“Don’t let yourself get hurt this time.
Don’t let yourself get hurt this time.
Then I saw your face…”

This played in the pilot & the beginning of some eps, but not in them all.

Since Jayjay’s was skipped, I’ll just add that it’s The New People - which I knew, thanks to his mention of Lost, but had to Google to remember the title. (Thus my not posting earlier.)

Since I answered one, I’ll contribute one from my childhood:

All but one man died,
There at Bitter Creek,
And they say he ran away…
