This is why you don’t rely only on streaming! What if…Rogers got control, and now you can only stream the “renightmared” version?
You can have my DSotM CD when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.

You know a DSoM remake I like? The one by Flaming Lips, Henry Rollins, and some bands I’d never heard of.
ETA that said, after having listened to it, here’s my take. As much as I dislike Waters, I actually kind of like it… In fairness, it is so very much out of the Leonard Cohen play book, and I like Leonard Cohen. I will relisten to it from time to time.
I think I’d rather listen to Kid Rock than anything this braindead old tankie has to say at this point. I’ll stick with the original.
I actually kinda like the slow jam version. At a blind listen I’d swear it was the ghost of Leonard Cohen, and the notion of him coming back to haunt some R&R classics made me feel a bit better about the cosmos. But Waters’ efforts at wannabe Leonard should have gone no further than gravelly opioid intonation. The words inserted in the middle, those are pure crap. They ruin it.
Today is my 50th high school reunion.
We stream all of our music now. DSOTM now plays this video of the prism. Not the still graphic.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9ynZnEBtvw You will need to drop that in your browser.
It’s fantastic. Problem is, I want a real one. You could maybe use an old record turntable to do this. Would need to slow it down. 33rpm would be to fast IMHO. Not sure if a laser would work with a prism though. You would need the full spectrum of light.
Or fashion a ‘white’ light to direct it’s beam right at the laser.
Or maybe something like this - Spinning solar powered prism
Roger Waters is always gonna Roger Waters. ![]()

"…with a tension exacerbated by Waters’ school masterly demeanor, as he sternly brooked no interruption.”
But in the town, it was well known, when they got home at night their fat and psychopathic wives would thrash them within inches of their lives.
We don’t need no education, Roj. It’s funny how he has become all the characters he despised in The Wall.
I got 28 seconds in and thought, “Yeah Roger, you wrote it and play a find bass line on it - but David owns it”. Throughout the album Gilmour is playing - I’m not even sure- slide, lap-steel, perhaps pedal steel guitar - yet this song is David Gilmour at his fucking Rock Star Guitar playing and lead singer finest.
I just watched a video “The story of dark side of the moon” on youtube and Gilmour shows how many of his guitar effects are his magnificent use of pedals.
I definitely have seen him live playing a lap-steel. Just like Steve Howe of Yes he played both that and guitar in the same song. Incredible.
Heh, don’t even assume he played the bass on it. The bass in the studio is often played by Mr. Gilmour. as well.
I know it was March 1, 1973 when it was released but it was first performed in public on January 20th 1972. I had the version from the fourth Rainbow Theatre show (February 20, 1972) the summer before through the taper network. So on March 1, 2023 it was roughly 51 years and 2 months old.
