I just know that it exists; I saw it mentioned in a New York Times article. However, that article did not give contact information, at least not that I recall, and I can’t find it at the moment (I’m at home and I must have looked at the page at work because it’s not in my local browser history).
Hey! I didn’t post the post i thought I had posted! That’s a REAL good thing.
There are fundraisers going on in the DC metro area for victims of the pentagon disaster.
At least 20 members of the SEIU Local (custodians, security guards, elevator operators, etc) are missing in NY, and there may be custodians missing at the Pentagon as well. The International has set up a SEIU September 11 Fund to go to the families of union represented workers who lost their lives, and to aid those union members who are out of jobs because of this destruction. Off hand, I dont’ knwo the International’s website address, but I got this address via e-mail.
By mail, send tax-deductible contributions made payable to:
SEIU September 11th Relief Fund
c/o SEIU
1313 L Street, NW
Washington, DC 20005
As of September 25, the fund raised $921,422, but contributions are still desperately needed. About 6,000 janitors and other workers are expected to permanently lose their jobs or be displaced for a long period of time. This is just a small drop in the bucket of what will be needed to help thousands of displaced workers and their families restore their lives.
