There was a WW2 in the Cars universe?

In the movie Planes we see bombers and even a battle at one point, it is hard to tell but the tropes and tech seem to point WW2 era.

I don’t know why the concept of warfare in the Cars universe boggles my mind so much, much less a specific war.

If Pixar were to actually make a movie depicting this, it would be so bizarre I’d drag my butt to the cinema.

Reminds me a little bit of a cartoon I came across due to a “early pre- anime” thread. Basically it was a 1940’s Japanese propaganda film portraying cute anthropomorphic animals fighting WWII. Talk about mind boggling!

You ever notice how none of the cars in Cars have license plates? Except this guy. I’ve always kinda wondered what the deal was with that. I mean, there aren’t a whole lot of real-world analogues for having an identification number actually written on a person, you know?

And he’s a Volkswagon, too. Hmm.

Wasn’t one of the [del]characters[/del] vehicles in Cars a Willys Jeep who was always giving the VW van a hard time?

I never noticed that explicitly, I always just assumed it was supposed to be a beard.

Correct.

I think they should next make a movie called Trains. Then cast Steve Martin as a character in Planes, Trains, and Cars, but, counter to expectation, also cast Chevy Chase and Martin Short so there can be a Three Amigos type plot.

(Though technically A Bug’s Life already used that well-worn plot, so I am guessing they probably will not be doing this)

The BMWs and Mercedes were intent on wiping out all convertibles, because they had their tops snipped off.

And the number is a reference to George Carlin himself. It’s his date of birth.
