There's nothing to do!

There seems to be absolutely nothing to do here (Virginia Beach). I finally have someone to go on dates with, and there’s nowhere to go! Try as we might, we absolutely can not think of anything to do (besides go to the movies). If it was summer, there would be no problem thinking of stuff, but as it is…

So please, Dopers, do you have any creative ideas?

I suppose it depends on what you all are in to…

Google: “things to do in Virginia Beach” reveals quite a few possibilities. Have fun!

Oh, let me clarify a bit: Considering the weather, I would like indoors stuff to do.

So lets see, you want to be indoors, and you have a date?

What could you possibly do together?

scrabble

The thing is, Bippy, we definately plan on doing some of the things that seem to have crossed your mind. However, we want to do other stuff, too.

You mean your allready playing Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit !!!

I couldn’t conceive…

Seriously, ideas are kind of hard when we know so little about the two of you…

If you are Christian, then decorating easter eggs could use up an afternoon. If laser tag is available near Virginia Beach that can be great fun. Or go play pool, or go to a local swimming pool (indoors of course). Take up a course in massage at a local college’ …

I’m with Bippy, we need to know the kind of stuff you enjoy doing…

Maybe stay home and cook something elaborate, if you like cooking. Or rent a bunch of old movies and spend the day inside. Take a class on something interesting.

There are a lot of restaurants in VA Beach, right? You could hit some of those.

Make something crafty.
Teach yourselves to knit.
Make tapes of your favourite songs.
Try out some new recipes.
Invent new recipes!
Play cards. (You could invite some other people over.)
Plan cook a 3 course dinner and surprise your parents.
Read funny comics together.
Snuggle and watch videos/DVDs.

Damn! I should read things more thoroughly. Most of those have been mentioned. sigh

Play Warhammer. That’ll keep you busy and poor for years.

Aren’t there alot of bars and clubs in Virginia Beach?

… she’s 15. (I think)

Indoor rock climbing!

How romantic!

monica,

I understand completely. I used to live in Virginia Beach myself and it’s not a lot of fun in the winter. Here’s some suggestions, though they might not be all that helpful since you don’t say what you enjoy doing:

  1. Go to the Marine Science museum and check out one of their IMAX flicks. Also, go see the otter tank. I could spend an entire afternoon just watching the otters.

  2. Go up to Newport News and check out the Living Museum. Sure, some of that’s outside, but they have inside exhibits and they also have things like astronomy classes.

  3. Take a class at TCC. They’re cheap and they have a pretty wide choice of interesting stuff.

  4. Get yourself a membership to the rec centers. It’s cheap, especially if you are under 18 (I think it’s only $15 for a whole year). You can swim, take classes (we took a scuba class there), play racquetball, go bowling, etc.

  5. And of course you can just be a “typical teenager” and hang at the mall :). Lynnhaven one day, Pembroke the next … for a change of pace you could also go down to the MacArthur Center and/or Waterside and hang there.

And remember spring is coming! Soon!

That does change my answer somewhat.

You know, I’m trying to think what I really did at that age, I really can’t recall much other than hanging out with friend.

There’s nothing to do anywhere when you are 15. Learn a musical instrument, form a band and go on tour as soon as you are able.
