Pretty well. The streets are a helluva lot more settled down now. Fine with me if the junta stays forever.
You guys are our wire service, we mostly get crap like Jakrapob Penkair says the coup won’t last very long.
Which is to say, thanks.
Jakrapob is hiding out in Cambodia, praying to Buddha that the military junta doesn’t send someone to cap his ass. And I hope they do. Fuck him. He’s one of the slimier of Thaksin’s henchmen.
It is amazing to see how a dictatorship forms, and is embraced through the eyes of someone on the ground.
Says the man with no knowledge of the situation.
Tells you how bad the previous bunch were, for example, and at the very least, they turned a blind eye as their supporters murdered people, including children.
Notice the pro junta side isn’t against a little murder either.
Hey, a little murder never killed anyone.
Wow. Instant hostile response to shut down any conversation critical of junta.
See previous post.
Well, you sure showed me.
He knows what you posted.
Look, Sam, we get it - it’s not your country, so what do you care? So long as it’s stable and they let you leave when you want to go, a dictatorship sounds better. That’s why there are so many westerners in Dubai. I’m not sure, however, that a permanent military junta is in the best long-term interest of the Thai people. If democracy doesn’t work, you fix it, You don’t throw it out.
It’s my wife’s country, and she likes the junta just fine. So do many, many other Thais who are not red-shirt filth.
So you’re fine with your children growing up in a military dictatorship? How about your grandchildren?
Are you cool with Thailand turning into another Burma?
Jesus, how do you come up with this shit? Have you not been reading the thread at all?
I understand that the people who used to be in power were absolutely horrible and deserve to be hung from lampposts. That’s fine, and if you say that a military junta is the best way to get rid of them, I’ll take your word for it. But what about the long term? Can Thai democracy never be fixed? Are the Thai people utterly unable to govern themselves?
Long term? Who knows? One problem is getting the voters to stop selling their vote to the highest bidder. But as I’ve pointed out repeatedly, Thailand never has never been a democracy. The military has always controlled it from behind the scenes, always, ever since the revolution of 1932, popping up to take control more overtly when a gangster like Thaksin and his ilk decides he’s more powerful than the military.
But I’m just repeating myself now.
And you’re satisfied with that system of government? Do you think it should be adopted by other countries?
I think I have made it pretty darned clear I am happy with this coup or anything else that rids this country of red-shirt filth. Other countries can look out for themselves.
Gotcha.
