Welllll, let’s not be hasty. We don’t know why she did it. Maybe he had it coming.* For all we know it was self defense and she got scared and panicked rather than go to the cops. I don’t think we know enough information to automatically brand her as evil just yet.
As far as her kids go, I imagine the knowledge of their father’s murder is going to mess with them, but otherwise I don’t see how they will bear a burden. So their mom killed somebody. It doesn’t mean they’re murderers too, and it’s not like they’re going to be put on trial for what their mom did. The mother died at a relatively young age so it looks like karma has done its thing.
*Yes, you can have it coming, dammit.
“…police…went to the Planet Self Storage facility in Somerville on Thursday and found the remains inside an unplugged freezer that was locked and sealed with duct tape, Coakley said. There was an odor coming from the freezer, she said…An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and approximate time of death.”
And here we have yet another of the myriad reasons that I do not regret my decision not to go into forensic pathology.
Somehow on Law and Order they never get around to showing the M.E. conducting a post-mortem on Pureed Papa.
I used to work a few blocks from that storage facility. I know just where it is. Scary thought that this was in tere all those times I walked by.
On the Boston news tonight there was a special report on how things left in such storage facilities tended to degrade with time because of leaks, etc. This would offer a significant response to that – tyhe freezer looked in pretty good shape when they pulled it out, esecially considering its contents.
Would you be saying that if it were the husband who had killed the wife and then sealed her body up in a freezer for fourteen years before finally confessing on the deathbed?
Yeah, when I hear about a mruder in which someone killed (and possibly dismembered) a person then stored the corpse in a freezer for fourteen years, taking pains to make sure it wasn’t discovered, I don’t tend to have thoughts like ‘Maybe the victim had it coming.’
Possibly because we know absolutely nothing other than the fact there is a person dead at the hand of another. We don’t know if it was in self-defense, a passionate rage, an act of horrid cruelty, or simply a deranged person killing her husband because the pot-roast told her to. I don’t make assumptions one way or the other.
All I’m saying is, maybe he did have it coming, and maybe he didn’t have it coming. We won’t ever know, and it’s not ours to assume.
Because the cold-blooded mommy-dearest hid daddy’s corpse in the freezer for fourteen years letting her children wonder what happened to their father, letting his family wonder what happened to him, for all that time.
Considering it’s possible that she thought he had it coming – you can throw that in the mix too. Still very, very wrong. But it seem pretty fucked up all around, read on…
catsix – A more recent story said the children had been estranged from both parents since they were teens. So it doesn’t look either either parent was particularly enjoyable to be around. And relatives say he was a violent drunk.
He punched and killed his best friend/brother-in-law at a wedding.
The plot thickens. So basically, it looks like a lot of not-so-nice folks all around. A man who drinks, fights and kills, and a boa-constrictor wearing woman who apparently is capable of killing in cold blood.
Yeesh!
Oh and another more recent article said that at the time the remains were shipped to Massachussetts, they were mummified – not quite as exciting as CSI soup.
