These ISIS fuckers are spoiling for a fight and Trump will take the bait.

“Innocent people will die”?? Who cares? Muslims don’t count. Nor for that matter, do Christians who couldn’t or wouldn’t vote for El Trumpo Grande.

And, whatever you think of Trump’s intelligence, there will be adults advising him, to ensure that the War accomplishes key objectives: opportunities for graft, buttering up to Putin, profit for Trump-supporting kleptocrats and The Trump Organization itself.

Have I called Trump an idiot? If so, it was hyperbolic, just like I call Shodan or Clothahump idiots even though clinically they probably have IQ’s at least high enough to qualify as mere morons.

And I don’t blame Trump for his ignorances and greeds. I think you could go to any drunk tank or whorehouse in any Flyover state and find people who would be even worse Presidents than Trump, and with lower IQ’s to boot.

But those drunkards and loonies didn’t run for President. Neither did Trump, really — even in his most flatulent wet dream he didn’t think 51% of Americans were stupid enough to pull his lever.

I blame the American public who are happy to see a stupid wall, war in the Middle East, and rising hatreds and rising inequality in America, as long as they get their boy into office so he can rename Obamacare, dismantle the Dept. of Education, EPA, NPR, Wall St. regulations, etc., and outlaw gay sex and/or enslave women. Those are the ignorant turds I despise. How about you, Evan Drake? Are you an ignorant turd?

I lived it too. I watched LBJ announce the he was not running for re-election, was ceasing the bombing of North Vietnam and wanted to initiate peace negotiations.

LBJ escalated and then deescalated after he realized it was a folly. Nixon re-escalated and left it to Ford to lose it. Get your history straight. Johnson left office in January of 1969 and there were 12,000 deaths in 1969. 1969 was Nixon’s year.

Yeah and what have we had; years of civil war and gas attacks against civilians (there have been many of these, the recent one is getting more traction just because it’s too big to sweep under the carpet.

But no worries, it would have been worse if we had intervened right? We can always say that no matter what.

Was this win-win for the GOP?
Obama is a war-monger. Obama is also a coward.
Or win-win for the Democrats?
Obama tried to defeat the monster. The GOP preferred to stand back and watch children be nerve-gassed.

I disagree. It’s not their territory, and there’s no nationalism at play here. Not a chance that it would be even remotely like Vietnam.

I might be missing something; if you start off with a “Who cares? Muslims don’t count”, then how do you get a win-win by pointing at nerve-gassed Muslims?

Tim Kaine (HRC’s running mate) is on TV right now telling us we have to bomb Assad in retaliation for the use of chemical weapons.

LBJ quit. While he was in office , he kept sending more and more kids over there to get killed. Anyone can “initiate” peace negotiations. The key is to finish them. You can’t do that when you quit. The Vietnam War was LBJ’s war. Maybe Kennedy would have done the same, but we’ll never know. Johnson is the guy who got us to > 500,000 troops in Vietnam.

In other news, X-Files’ Gillian Anderson pens self-help manifesto.

Whew!

Carry on.

It’s called Republican cognition. Logic and consistency don’t enter into it — Republioturds think with their amygdalae not their cerebra.

[QUOTE=Top GOP philosopher, as reported by George Orwell]

A Party member is required to have not only the right opinions, but the right instincts. Many of the beliefs and attitudes demanded of him are never plainly stated, and could not be stated without laying bare the contradictions inherent in Ingsoc. If he is a person naturally orthodox (in Newspeak a goodthinker), he will in all circumstances know, without taking thought, what is the true belief or the desirable emotion. But in any case an elaborate mental training, undergone in childhood and grouping itself round the Newspeak words crimestop, blackwhite, and doublethink, makes him unwilling and unable to think too deeply on any subject whatever.

… there is need for an unwearying, moment-to-moment flexibility in the treatment of facts. The keyword here is blackwhite. Like so many Newspeak words, this word has two mutually contradictory meanings. Applied to an opponent, it means the habit of impudently claiming that black is white, in contradiction of the plain facts. Applied to a Party member, it means a loyal willingness to say that black is white when Party discipline demands this. But it means also the ability to believe that black is white, and more, to know that black is white, and to forget that one has ever believed the contrary. This demands a continuous alteration of the past, made possible by the system of thought which really embraces all the rest, and which is known in Newspeak as doublethink.

Didn’t he choose not to run again because he was ill with heart disease?

That’s a minority view. From wikipedia:

Let us never forget: Nixon sabotaged the 1968 peace talks. So a few more thousand draftees got put through the meat grinder. Tricky Dick got to be president. In a similar way, Reagan sabotaged Carter’s Iran hostage negotiations.

I’m guessing that “when acting, clear your throat and speak in a normal tone of voice” is not at the top of her list.

Yes. Yes, it will.

Wait, wait - what about the Bannon war with China. Where does that fit in?

Too late …Obama took the bait and Trump has basically continued his plan. We’ve had a coordinated ground and air campaign running for a while now. The Iraq portion has a troop limit of 5,262 permanent forces but is likely up around 6000 when you include the “temporary” forces on shorter rotations. Syria has troop limits of just over 503 but is up around 900. We have US artillery units providing support in both countries at the moment. American conventional forces advisors are on the ground at Battalion level helping the Iraqis take back Mosul.

IS is gradually getting defeated inside it’s home territory. The bigger problem is that they have affiliates spread outside of those two countries and increasingly have been focusing on those elements. That sends a big message about their level of confidence in defending their current territory. Hint, Obama had special operations forces working as advisors in a lot of them already. You are aware their are IS affiliates, and US troops targeting them, in Libya, Somalia, and Afghanistan right?

Silly reality getting in the way of a good hypothetical and rant.

And that would be enough for either of us to be head and shoulders above your IQ level.

Looks like Assad beat ISIS to the punch.

And a much more dangerous proposition, since Russia is behind him. This is the danger that so many have pointed out before now of having a capricious and unpredictable president.
