I refuse to call them by their former name. They are not the party of Lincoln; they are the party of QAnon. They are the party of Proud Boys. Hell, at times they are the party of Nathan Bedford Forrest.
Republicans in name only…that’s a good description, actually. Just not in the sense that they might think.
Right now, I can’t think of anything more derogatory than just “Republican”. Sane conservatives need to split off and find a new name like, say, the Sane Conservative Party.
We seem to have forgotten about the Portland Insurrection over the summer. The issue isnt either party, its that too many Americans think that their beliefs trump the general welfare.
I wish (won’t happen) that McConnell takes all of the Senators that voted to crap on the right of States to run their own elections, and lets them know that they will not be getting any committee positions or ANYthing else in the next session. In fact, the other Republican Senators will not talk to them and will not even mention their names. They will be simply ignored. Fugazi is right - call them “The Sedition Caucus” and let them fantasize away about destroying the constitution and the country in isolation.
Fuck off with your bothsideism, you fascist supporting troll. This was called for by the fucking president of the United States. He called for and directed the mob to assault our Capitol.
You and octotroll can give eachother handjobs all you want. Doesn’t change that you support fascism.
Not only that, but it assumes that both “protests” start from the same place, which they clearly don’t.
The Portland protests, which were mostly peaceful until right wing agitators and federal law enforcement showed up, were spawned out of a desire to address a very real problem: police abuse and abuses of power by law enforcement broadly and the executive branch.
The Capitol Hill rioters were responding to a “crisis” that was completely manufactured from a steady stream of falsehoods.
They are not in any way remotely the same, and it’s just lazy shit-ass thinking to assume they are.
That was a really, really fucking stupid comment, madsirfool.
Yeah like denying people access to their businesses and homes and occupying public buildings for several weeks isnt fascism. And of course it didnt send any sort of a message to their moronic fascist brothers on the right. Rules of civic engagement need to be applicable to everyone, not just the opposing party.
This is the only part that I disagree with in your post. You give the benefit of the doubt that it was lazy, rather than direct malice. There are in fact people who hate our country, and wish it harm. You do not need to make excuses for them. They hate you, never forget that. They want you harmed, they want you oppressed and subjugated to their whims.
Nah. There is a mollusk of a poster that continuously “reminds” us about that. BTW do you have a cite where the Portland protests invaded and treatened the representatives in the Seattle City Council or Portland Commisions? AFAIK breaking windows and painting graffiti was what took place there, a fire was reported earlier in city hall, but that was outside the building.
You will need to realize that insurrection adds something else besides protesting violently, it includes the violence and and attempt at destroying the government. And not just their democratic members, what happened in DC was that the Trumpsters were targeting “apostates” like Mitch McConnell too.
We’ll have to disagree on that. He certainly seems to hate our country and it being a democratic republic, as well as anyone who would like to keep it that way.
I won’t lie, I thought at first that “Portland Insurrection” was referring to the Bundy incident because those are essentially the same people as far as I am concerned.
