First sentence: Deliberate misreading of my post. I said `he seems to be responsible’ in a sarcastic way.
Second sentence: Complete innocence of basic science. Evolution and other physical processes adequately explain puppy dogs and sunflowers, as well as car crashes and utter morons.
I’m waiting for that proof. I have a feeling I’ll be waiting for a long time.
You know we really need to come up with a sarcastic font/tag so that the lowest and most unimaginitive style of humour doesn’t get “lost” on message boards.
Well you got one right, at least if you are waiting for me to look up an answer for you.
CarnalK, many that embrace the thought of a higher being believe he’s there to demonstrate how to live life to the fullest. To blame him for everything from gusts of wind to the death of a puppy is to completely ignore what the Bible attributes to him.
You sure don’t have to be a believer, but neither should you burden him with responsibilities of YOUR choosing.
Well I don’t know why any one would think that as he never actual demonstrates anything.
Everyone can agree the guy was criminally idiotic to let the kids sit in the back of the truck.
Does everyone agree that it is idiotic to believe in an omnipotent god? That’s what it means here when “god let it happen”.
If you are an atheist then good for you (so am I). If you believe in an omnipotent god then his statement is correct even though it doesn’t diminish his own earthly culpability.
Throw him away for longer, I say. The guy’s been in and out of prison, and it appears that he blamed someone else each time. There’s a place for people who consistantly refuse to take responsibilty for their actions. He going to that place for 22 years. He will meet many other people there who blame others for their visit.
I think so. Iowa Code 2003: Section 726.6 classifies the crime of child endangerment differently depending on the effect to the child.
I don’t know what the sentencing guidelines are, but from a brief Google I found two cases of child endangerment in Iowa (though both relating to baby shaking) where the child suffered serious injury.
In both cases the sentence for child endangerment was 10 years. The sentence of 22 years in this case sounds as though it is in line with those previous ones, I would assume it breaks down to 10 years for each endangerment charge and 2 for the driving without a license.
I think the bigger problem is that he’s an idiot. Who gives a shit what he thinks?
“God let them die,” is hardly news. It’s just the ravings of a dipshit. He fucked up. He’s now spewing ignorance in the face of his fuck up. Big deal – happens every day.
I think the only point that CarnalK is making is one of semantics, ala if God exists and He was capable of stopping these deaths, and He didn’t, then tacitly He allowed them to happen.
I don’t think there’s ome rational person on either side of the holy war who blames “God” for this.
It’s all moot, as far as I can tell.
On the other hand, God let me jerk off this morning, so I’d like to say thanks … and fuck Onan.
Jack Batty, you are of course correct. I just found it ludicrous to pick out that statement as if that shows what a jerk he is.
Regarding your last sentence: though I am an atheist, God still let’s me have good coffee. He let me buy this nice french press, see?
(btw God only hates jerking off if you use it as birth control, I think those Catholics are on to something)
Actually the problem wasn’t that they were in the back of the truck, it’s that they were riding a pile of bushes in the back. Guess who manufactures bushes…GOD!
But anyway, pretty shitty for the family. I wonder if he was their Uncle by marriage or blood. It’d be tough knowing your brother got your kids killed. Of course having a brother who is a murderer isn’t so great to start with.
CarnalK, so you claim to be an atheist, yet you argue for some putative god’s side? If I rolled my eyes that hard, they’d fall out. How do you do it?
I can’t believe you guys still haven’t gotten to the real issue here.
Obviously, it never would have happened if he hadn’t played “Grand Theft Auto III.” The game created an atmosphere of violence and negligent driving. It’s all Rockstar’s fault.
