For those of you interested in high school marching bands (and really, who isn’t?), or just like documentaries, check out this film if it comes to your city. The Pride of Broken Arrow is a nationally ranked marching band and this film has so many of my students in it. I can’t wait to see it. If nothing else, it’s a way to support the Arts in public education–which is really in danger in Oklahoma. During a time when we can’t even pay substitute teachers (literally. most of our subs are volunteers who should be nominated for sainthood.) and many districts in Oklahoma are saying that, if they can finsh the school year without closing, they might not open next year–of course the Arts programs are about to bleed to death. So, check out this film. The kids of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma thank you!
mmm…
(who is not an Arts teacher but wants to support them anyway.)
I don’t give a diddly about your school, I just wanted to check in and say I liked the name.
Nice name.
they did an interview on MPR a month or so ago with the producer/director/gaffer/or some other title. Sounds fairly interesting. The sound bite made the band sound impressive.
Is this about last years season only? or a couple of years? I have too many sisters and one of us has been in Marching Band since 1990, I have one more season to go with my youngest sister. Tired of the Indiana bands. Now I see the that some bands recycle their shows, so I saw the same stuff five or so years ago. It’s always refreshing to see out of state stuff.
I’d be disappointed if this movie doesn’t make it to Indy. :smack:
Also, NurseCarmen, the band is quite impressive. They are in the top 5 Bands of America (not to be confused with "American Bandstand!) every year. For the past 3 years, they’ve been in the top 3. WOW!
