They say Sarah Palin isn't smart enough to be POTUS

Manbearpig!

He wasn’t wrong about Manbearpig. He told us it was real, and we didn’t listen. We didn’t listen!

For our next trick we’ll be marching to the Feynman estate to yank back Feynman’s Nobel Prize because he switched ‘galaxy’ and ‘nebulae’ numerous times in a lecture given in 1964! What a fraud!

That’s IT!

We’re gonna have to throw out the parton model and find a new way to analyze high-energy hadron collisions.

Damn you Feynman! Damn you to hell!

The Parton model? Is that when two massive orbs come together?

I am constantly amused at what the right-wingers find outrageous these days.

"Al Gore mistated a scientific fact. Therefore Sarah Palin is smart enough to be president."

Assuming the drill bit is made of metal, the highest melting point one is tungsten (as used in light bulb filaments). Tungsten melts at around 3400°C. So yes, it would clearly melt at the 5000-7000°C temperature of the earths’ core. That’s ignoring the effect of the friction from drilling, which would hear the drill bit up much faster. And ignoring any possible way of cooling the bit that might be invented someday.

It’s precisely the ignorance of Democrats concerning the core temperature that lets the mole-man threat grow. See - their belief that it is millions of degrees and so way too warm even for mole-men, leads to the complacency that threatens to doom us all.

Thank god there is a vigilant network of right-tards like the OP standing watch.

I guess I kinda welcome our new right-tard Mole Men overlords. Well, maybe not.

Never trust a man who’s obsessed with Tuvan Throat Singing.

No valid criticism of Sarah Palin is possible because Al Gore.

Right. Got it. Don’t understand it, but got it.

I could just see Sarah Palin facing the same question:

FOX interviewer: Governor Palin, what is the temperature of the earth’s core?

Palin: Whatever God wants it to be.

Fawning Crowd: YAY!

Who hijacked this thread about beautiful women with long legs, with crap about Al Gore and Sarah Palin?

Who are three people who have never been in my kitchen?

Okay - color me confused. What does Al Gore misstating the temprature at the Earth’s core have to do with Sarah Palin?

Did it. Reported your explicit violation of forum rules.

It’s an obvious slap at a double-standard.

Whenever a conservative commits a verbal faux pas, liberals immediately start pointing and saying, “Look how stupid the conservative is.” But, whenever a liberal commits a faux pas of equal magnitude, it’s, “Well, he/she just mispoke”.

And I just don’t understand the vitriol that liberals have for Sarah Palin. It makes no sense. That’s stupid.

As someone most definately not of the Left, I can easily understand the mockery aimed at her, mate. She’s quite simply and clearly an ignoramus, a small provincial person whose main attributes seem to be physical. And again as someone not from the Left, it speaks extemrely poorly of the American Right that any of you lot think she’s in any way defensible.

You’re losing the centre because you’ve opted for rancid Know Nothing populism of the worst sort, and confused being anti-Left with anti-thinking.

And, I may add, the American Right has adopted some of the worst, most reprehensible items from the Left, such as the chronic case of Woe is Us victimology.

Stop fucking whinging on because your bloody empty headed sexpot is a fucking cretin and focus on something you stupid gits. Find a fucking Thatcher.

Hardly. There is a difference between making a verbal gaffe, as both Bush and Biden have done repeatedly in the past (such as Bush saying that “families are where wings take dream” and Biden calling Obama clean and articulate during the early campaign) where everyone knows what they intended to say, but instead said something to make them appear stupid.

And then there are people who are just plain stupid. Palin is a neo-Know Nothing. Some conservatives seem to like her because she reminds them of themselves (and her looks), not because she is worthy, intellectually-qualified, sufficiently experienced, or has a strong character for political office. In short, she has no substance whatsoever as a political figure (which includes having good or at least persuasive political ideas). The political ideas she has stated in numerous interviews are a vague set of general Republican platitudes that don’t really mean anything. She was clearly repeating things she was told to say. A politician needs to be a leader, not a repeater.

Gore claims that this problem has been fixed, and now geothermal is an option that will provide energy for the next 35,000 years. Are either of those claims correct?

Or, as I suspect, like a lot of environmentalist types, he is grossly overstating his case in order to push an agenda.

Of course, he is a politician, not a scientist, and cannot be expected to get the basic facts of his pet projects correct. It would be unfair to use a few misstatements of fact to smear a politician as stupid, corrupt, unreliable and evil. That would be wrong.

And the SDMB would never dream of doing that, of course.
