Pretty close. I would also add other pants (khakis & sweat pants), and dress clothes (I have a suit with two different dress shirts and dress shoes). But yeah, that’s it.
And as for shoes I have:
Walking/skater shoes (the low-top ones): I don’t know what kind they are. I got them cheap at Pay-Less Shoes, and they’ve lasted me way longer than the Airwalks I used to have. I would call these my sneakers, for sneaking.
Dress shoes: Black, fairly comfortable (an important thing, since these are the first pair of comfortable dress shoes I’ve had). Again, I don’t know what kind they are.
Well, that’s my shoe collection. I usually get boots for winter (this is Saskatchewan, after all), but my boots for the last three years have finally worn out, so I’ll have to go looking.
And Flodnak, thanks for trying, but you lost me at twill weave.

I’m always on a quest for the perfect black pump. I don’t know if such a creature exists but I’m always on the look out. Even my sisters know that I’m partial to black shoes. On my last visit to Austin, my sister bought 3 pairs of black shoes for me.
My favorite right now are a pair of suede shoes (one of the ones the sis gave me) that I wear with pants. They are really cute and what makes them extra special is that they’re really comfy. Cute doesn’t always mean comfortable. I have some that give me blisters every time I wear them.
My mom’s a size zero. She’s well over the age of consent. In fact, even some styles in a size zero are too big, leaving her shopping in the juniors department.
I buy most of my shoes at Payless. There’s one right near my house, and this particular store just looooooooves me. Without fail, I can walk in to that store and walk out with exactly what I want within 15 minutes. Once I went there to get shoes for the whole family. I walked in, and walked out with 6 pair, in less than half an hour. What I wanted just leapt in to my waiting hands. Sigh. I love that place.
Nope. You can get close, though. You can even get black pumps that are perfect for a certain outfit. But those same black pumps won’t look right with everything, which is, IMHO, truly the perfect black pump. There will never be a perfect black pump, either. Why would they, with people like me who’ll buy black pumps at any given moment, for any given reason ("let’s see, it’s TUESDAY! I think I need black pumps!)?
Shirley: Galoshes? BWAAAHAHAHA!! That’s a riot! I’d love to have seen the look on your SIL’s face when you pulled those things out. Oh man, that had to be utterly priceless!
Docs are great! I’ve had mine Docs for about five years now. I used to wear Colorado hiking boots but they discontinued my preferred style. I must say the Docs have held up admirably over the years (better than the Colorado boots), especially considering that I wear them almost every day. I’ll probably replace them this winter though, the soles are beginning to crack.
I still have and wear the free Doc Marten tee-shirt I got with my boots, too.
Okay . . . there’s the pair I have on now, which are basically a school/work/dressy occasion/everyday shoe. Then I have my sneakers. And sandals. And another pair of sneakers b/c I haven’t tossed them yet. And my cleats. But then, I don’t care at all about matching, and I don’t go to formal events where the shoes I own aren’t suitable. Or where people will care enough.
My feet coverings exist as follows:
(I just looked through my closet here)
-Blue Birkenstocks (those may count as part of my feet, however)
-Blue Vans (old)
-Blue Vans (newish)
-Blue shower shoes
-Eeyore slippers
-Black heels (heels are so silly. I’m six feet tall already… sigh.)
-Black flats (schoolgirlish style)
-Tan dress sandals (for non black outfits)
That is it. Though I am looking for a pair of period correct shoes for my medieval outfit. While I love my Birkies, they don’t exactly match the bodice and dress ensemble.
I think I might have a pair of boots at home…somewhere…
I have to go to Mr. Rilch’s dad’s second wedding this weekend. I don’t want to go to the wedding; I just want to go into the hotel with Mr. Rilch and slam-click and stay there till an hour before my return flight. Anyway, I think I’m going to wear my old bridesmaid gown (it doesn’t look like one; it looks like a formal, and it’s pretty and flattering. Amazing), but I realized I still don’t have any black shoes. Think anyone would notice brown leather boots? The gown is floor-length.
I have a pair of New Balance running shoes (men’s), a pair of black dressy suede sandals, a few pairs of Birkenstock-type sandals (cheap rip-offs) and a pair of black leather flats that really need to be replaced. I also have a pair of black flat-heeled boots that need to be resoled and a pair of brown boots with a 2-inch heel that I’ll never be able to wear again but can’t bear to give up. Oh, and a pair of flat-heeled beige ankle boots that seemed like a good idea at the time but don’t actually go with anything.
I might have more shoes if I weren’t a women’s size 11 D or E. Given that I am, I’ll be content to claim I don’t want or need any more shoes and I’m not jealous of all of you who can walk into Payless and walk out with shoes that fit.
This is very worrying to me. I have only one pair of shoes. If this keeps up, they will revoke my faggot license. (But I use fruity shampoo! And I like show tunes! Please! Augh!)
