This disappoints me.
I know I’m naive and should not be surprised, but I’m not sure I’ll watch the show anymore.
Hell, I could win this competition if that’s how they do it.

They do it in the UK version too but only in the results show opening number which is prerecorded and no one cares as far as I can see. The individual performances are all live so that, in my view, is sufficient to judge a contestant on.
From what I’ve read it’s the same in the US version, the only prerecorded song is the one which opens the results show? If that is the case then I don’t see that as a big deal.
Yeah, they lip-sync the opening number on Idol, too. It’s actually pretty obvious.
