They're making the Boondock Saints 2!!!

Please tell me this isn’t a joke (IMDB screws up from time to time)!

[Boondock II: All Saints Day](Boondock II: All Saints Day)

Same director, writer, actors… all signs of a good sequel.

Boondock Saints is definately my favourite movie that no-one’s seen.

This has been up for a while. I have a few pallies back home who love this flick- I enjoyed it, if only for the Willem Dafoe role.

Has the director done anything since? I remember he was the object of a crazed bidding war as a bartender turned the next Tarantino. Perhaps the fact that I can’t recall his name without checking the link is telling.

Ah- here we go. He must have really pissed someone off not to get another movie until now.

And here is a discussion of the second movie from an apparently authorized source, including what purports to be actual script pages.

I just saw Boondock Saints last night for the first time. What a great movie. I hope All Saints Day can be nearly as good.

I’d never heard of this movie before strolling into a midnight movie showing Friday. God, what a wonderful film, and this has GOT to be DeFoe’s best performance… what a memorable character he created.

I’m still chuckling over some of the lines…

“Where’s my cat?”
“I killed it… I thought it would bring closure to our relationship.”

I’ll be looking forward to the sequel.

Btw, a bit of browing the net revealed that this has a growing cult following after flopping at the box office, and the fact that it was released around the time of Columbine didn’t help matters.

Am I the only one that thinks a sequel would be a bad idea? I mean, the first movie was rather open ended, but I think it needed to be. I don’t want to see another movie of them running away from the police, only to end up either on trial, in jail, gunned down, or living in Tiajuana…the movie was developed to make a point, and I just feel trying to make a sequel to it is going to ruin it.

When are people going to learn that not every movie needs a friggin’ sequel?

I’m with El Elvis Rojo here…I felt like it SHOULD have been left open-ended. I’ve heard that on the DVD there are some cut scenes - like some in a courtroom after the end of the movie - but I felt like the ambiguity regarding their origins and mission and that kind of thing were part of what was GOOD about the movie.

Well, I can always hope that a sequel will bring more attention to the original, so I suppose that’s a Good Thing.
