They're Remaking "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes"!

Isn’t that like remaking Plan Nine from Outer Space or Robot Monster? The only appeal the films have in the first place is their low-budget, poorly-made but nevertheless entertaining aspects. If you remake it with big bucks and still bad on puropose it defeats the point. If you make it good instead, the film’s fundamental badness will sink it anyway, unless you can tread that fine line of witty and informed self-reference. I wouldn’t bet on that.
Here’s one thing they can’t do in a remake : In the original, there was a scene with a helicopter (getting use of a helicopter for a scene in an ultra-low-budget flick like this must have been a major coup). The helicopter crashed (not seriously, and no one was hurt), and they got it on film, so, of course, they used it. They attributed the crash to a “flying tomato”.

Hey, hands off the classics!

Don’t give them any ideas.

I don’t think they can duplicate my favorite scene. It is just too damn cheap. Someone off screen is rolling tomatoes one or two at a time towards a guy with a 12 gauge who is blasting away and screams, “We can’t hold them back!”

My favorite is the scene with the black dude who went undercover as a tomato sitting around the campfire eating human flesh and he says, “Pass the ketchup!”

I’m sure it’s far, far too late.

Well, Tim Burton already remade the ending in Mars Attacks.

I liked the ending scene with the MegaTomato moving to attack Mason Dixon, and clearly being pushed forward on a skateboard by two crew (you could plainly see the skateboard wheels and the bottom of the pusher’s sneakers underneath the MegaTomato)

And then, of course, Mason gets cornered by the MT in an alley, the tomato wearing earmuffs so it can’t hear the chilling strains of “Puberty Love”, so, in order for Mason to kill MT, he shows it the lyrics sheet to Puberty Love…

Did anyone else immediately start singing the theme song to themself?

ATTACK!!! OF THE KILLER TOMATOES!!!
