Things adults do that you find (mildly) juvenile

Twenty-something is pushing it for this! Dads that wear their baseball hats backward and have their sunglasses resting on the bill is another one.

Grown adults who call their parents “mommy/daddy”

I’m not a kid but I also have zero tooth decay, which is something I do not notice in most other adults (which I find surprising). Maybe they are all washing their mouths in kid’s sugar drinks all day.

My wife calls me and her father both “daddy.” It’s happened while we are in the same room, and she’s like “Not you, the other one.”

UGH! I’d flip out if my husband called me mom or mommy! That is just wrong.

Just wearing a baseball-style cap period (unless you’re a kid or a baseball player) is, to me, juvenile. I would feel like a moron.
mmm

Immigrant Latinas call others Mama or Papa. Its part of the culture.

I’ve seen this done when there are small children so that the children aren’t confused about what to call their parents.

I find it almost but not quite as weird when a couple calls each other brother and sister/sis. It either implies a platonic relationship or a non-platonic relationship neither of which sound pleasant.

This line of thinking could be extended to a lot of the “childish” things mentioned in this thread (Disney, MLP, Harry Potter). I’ll never forget starting a thread on this board about going to see Ice Age 3 and one of the responses was that I was basically seeing a kids cartoon so I could troll for underage kids. It was a tasteless joke and the person did get warned for it, but it’s a joke I hear a lot because I always go out and see the kids cartoons.

Why?

Because life suuuuuuuucks. Every turn it’s “politics this” and “Trump that” and “the world is terrible”. I absolutely hate it. Everything out there just tells me how much my life sucks and it’s my fault. You know what doesn’t do that? Spongebob. And Harry Potter and, God help me, a cartoon mammoth and sloth.

Sometimes I just want to see or read a story where I know the ending will be happy because it makes me feel good.
