Well, there went my beautiful dreams of getting out before it got dark. Monkey is now running around in his glow-in-the-dark jacket, cuz it IS a pleasant night.
I gave one of the teenagers a ride home tonight, and even she had dismayed/disbelieving comments when we passed a gas station & she saw the pump prices.
When the economy is so bad a rather self-entitled teen with no skin in the game (no car) is like, “Woah, dang!” you know you done messed up, son.
Not gonna spill the tea? ![]()
A thoroughly worthwhile way to spend one’s time.
I’ve frequently said if you ever see me running … you probably should, too.
I especially like the idea of fried tortilla strips, instead of the labor of rolling 'em. Plus, crunchy!
I LOL’d.
After dropping her off, I stopped on a whim for the 1st time at a tiny store near the teenager’s house that turned out to be the most interesting combo of corner/convenience store, full-blown liquor store, and fresh deli with various chilled items.
I’ve never in my life bought whiskey and Polish roses at the same stop - and cooed at a very cute toddler AND joked with the friendly proprietor about getting out from
“early” tonight - so it was a worthwhile pause on my drive home.
Debated getting a small cup of fresh pasta salad, didn’t, and am regretting it. Ah well, Ms. Teen is gonna need a ride again soon, I’m sure. Next time.
I didn’t know what Polish roses were when I moved to the Midwest, and was promptly schooled; a sprig of green onion & a healthy schmear of cream cheese, all rolled up in ham or roast beef sliced thin. I bought a whopping two tonight for a quick after-work snack.
After encountering them for the 1st time here, I polled every Polish person I or my mom knew - which was a substantial data set, across several age groups - and 100% of my survey sample had never heard of them. (“Sounds tasty, though.”)
Okay, time for snax, booze, and some Devil’s Lettuce.
