Things I (we?) should buy in the MMP

I hope that the vet gets to the source of his problem, poor baby.

Yay on a possible farm home for Zeus, taters. I hope that an assessment will give you the right tools to care for your mom.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I thought I had a derm appointment today, but got a text that I’d missed my appointment yesterday. :headsmack: Now I’m waiting for a call back to reschedule. I will be going later to pick up a Marketplace printer that’s more my speed (IOW, not the worst !@!#$ing printer Canon ever made).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Was “half a metric buttload” not an option?

There are, uh, video documentaries on the Internet … oh, windows my bad.

snerk

Um, who is “Precious?”

Ah, the old “I slept funny” (not funny) routine.

Oh, I really hope this works out.

Shit, your mom’s doing better than me. (I’m just lazy.)

Dogs bury treats for later. Not that weird …

… except for a former coworker whose dog would bury ice cubes, and then be all WTF when they weren’t there for unearthing later.

Reasonable day in the Mez. There was a bulk order for a non existent street in a Cary Zip Code(27513), that we had no info on the company, so I sent it back. The last box I did had the packing slip, and the address. For Oregon(970xx Zip Code). Bit of a typo. Also, when somebody updates their order to go to an access point, or be delivered in the future, the RFID label prints out an iecs tag, so they know to sort it to a clerk. It stand for “Intercept Exception Correction System”, but I always read it like a cartoon character falling off a cliff

AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

It has been raining all day.

You go girl! And glad you and Mrs. Magill are working through it like sane adults.

< crosses fingers for Otis >

I love dive bars!

You, too.

No, that would be the one from Office Space.

The stuff we use for the slides at work is Chute Lube. < inner eight year old boy giggles hysterically >

Heh, glad I wasn’t the only one who thought that… I do my own laundry, eventually, and I do shower!

Another afternoon sitting watching studientier students than me do exams. I need to go tick a box shortly, but I was gonna walk to the polling station as it’s only a few streets away but it’s just started raining. It’s open another few hours, and will probably be pretty quiet, and the rain should stop in 10 minutes, more or less.

I was going to try out the Chinese takeaway I’ll be walking past on the way there/back, but I’m not in the mood.

We filled out our mail-in ballots, and I tried to drop them off at a ballot box in front of city hall, but the box had no openings of any kind. It was right out front, chained up as they are, but somehow someone forgot to fix it so that a slot was accessible. I don’t understand.

Then I went to Trader Joe’s specifically to get their excellent English muffins, but they were all sold out.

So I’m not succeeding at anything today. We’re about to get ready to go to our favorite Mexican restaurant. I hope they’re open and not trashed and closed in the aftermath of Cinco de Mayo, which would be in keeping for how the day’s progressing so far.

Any word from Nellie?

Afternoon all. Only useful things I have done this morning is download my vacation pics to my computer and put sticky numbers on my newly installed mailbox, otherwise I have been trying to stay out of the contractor’s way and also snacking (need to stop that). Afternoon will probably be the same, and might repeat yesterday when gym time was from 5:30-7:30pm, but we’ll see. No rain but only 63F but should be over 70F by tomorrow.

Mollie, yay! for Dad’s eyesight, haven’t had uncorrected 20/20 vision since age 7 and probably never will.

I’d say the bar is just about where it should be, right now. It’ll get higher as adjustment continues.

Taters, hope the Zeus issue works out for both son and Zeus. And Mom sounds so much like my Dad later in his life I could cry…hang in there and be strong.

FCM, awaiting the Otis report.

Nut, happy polling and maybe you changed your mind on the Chinese takeaway?

lucky, you might want to report that about the ballot box to some authority, sounds like a SNAFU somewhere down the line.

And back to slothing and trying not to fatten myself too much.

I agree with you on this. I fail to see any downside to getting this evaluation done and a lot of upsides. If you’re right, then you know to start dealing with the situation. If you’re wrong, that evaluation will give you some needed reassurance. Hope your sister isn’t trying to play roadblock.

It is weird for Otis, the canine treat vacuum cleaner.

Speaking of whom - the best guess is enteritis. Xray showed he’s got a lot of gas in there, but no obstruction (which was my big fear.) So they gave him some subcutaneous fluids and some B12 and we’ve got a couple of meds for him, including an antibiotic. Once we got home, he suddenly showed an interest in food when I was making sammiches. He snarfed down a couple of pieces of turkey and a handful of cauliflower stem chunks (one of his fave treats.) Then he ate some doggy jerky sticks and a couple of cookies. Meanwhile, the vet suggested chicken and rice, so I’m cooking both and we’ll give him a little once it cools.

So, $500+ later, he’s suddenly starting to act normal. Oh, and he doesn’t like his tail being handled. It took 3 of them to take his temp.

FCD has decided he’s not going to the boat after all (YAY!) and it’s started raining a bit, so no weeding for now (YAY!) I messaged the guy on Marketplace who wants the deck blocks - I was supposed to meet him at noon, but I’d warned him that it’d be later. I don’t suppose he’ll give me $500 instead of $40 for the blocks???

And I just had to share this shot of the world’s most adorable grandson. I don’t know if you can tell, but his boots have dinosaurs on them. Such a fashion plate!!

Update: boxes ticked. There were a grand total of 4 other people in the polling station- with more than twice that number of little booth thingies, so no queue at all.

The Chinese takeaway did smell a little tempting, but I really wasn’t hungry, I had a big lunch and I also went to the posh food shop on the way home, so decided today was not the day.

Might his misadventure with the chickens tie into this?

Morning, y’all. I was uncomfy in the night and slept poorly, but Shiso helped by being a snuggly purrbox. Today I’ll do some measly lightweight cleaning to help out my lovely wife (dusting horizontal surfaces, maybe sweeping grit from under a rug, picking up downstairs) and light work in my study.

I’m glad Otis is okay.

We considered that, but the chicken event was Sunday and he didn’t stop eating till Tuesday. We discussed several things with the vet, but it’s a case of “Who knows??” At least he ate a bit. So we’ll see.

If you’re feeding him cauliflower chunks for treats, that may be a cause for the gas (coming from someone whose dog likes raw broccoli, peanuts and apples resulting in some SBD farts).

My wife and I each have one of those battery/jumper in our cars. They can also charge cell phones and is a flashlight.

My recent purchase was a Gerber multi-tool. I have tons of tools in the garage/workshop, but I keep the multi-tool in my office.

I don’t always get dressed first thing in the morning, and so I don’t have my pocket knife. So, if I need to tighten the odd screw or cut something or whatever, I’m all set. No need to go to the garage.

He hadn’t had any for a while before today, nor have they ever affected him before. I kinda suspect he might have gnawed on some of the old wood from the deck we tore down. Then again, he might have killed and eaten something in the woods - he’d been spending a lot of time in that end of the yard.
