Sorry.
Up from naptime, having a martini with chicken and cavatappi. Spot has been fed, and stopped gnawing on my fingers.

Harumph. I thought you were a gneiss lady.
Indeed.
Good luck and {{{{nellie}}}}
Dinner is leftover wonton soup with Trader Joe’s chicken and cilantro dumplings, and some GF TJ’s potato taco thing for my lovely wife. The cats will receive dry, flavorless bits and a spoonful of disgusting stuff from a can. My sister sent a sloth cat toy. My navel itches. I’ve ordered silicone scar tape. That is all.
Groceries have been procured. Date night dinner was Costco pizza, because we had to hurry home for Mrs Magill’s WPATH call tonight.
She said it went well. That means she’s thinking.
I still have my MTTA meeting Saturday.
And a good late evening to y’all. All the holes in my walls are patched up and tile has been replaced, the contractors will be back tomorrow to sand and paint the spots and install my new mailbox. Did make it to the gym in the early evening so got some sweating done after sitting around most of the day. Rained most of it anyway, but the real bad storms stayed south of me (swampy, don’t know how far south you are, but it might get nasty down your way). Mickey D’s provided the evening repast. Temperature is down to 57F so the rain has cooled things down considerably.
lucky, never heard of TMJ before, looked it up and it sounds rather unpleasant, hope the Doc’s advice helps out.
FCM, I do see the doc every six months to renew my prescriptions, so I guess that counts. This one is my ‘Medicare’ checkup. Been a long time since I visited Red Robin, may have to consider doing so sometime in the near future. Best wishes to Otis and I think he probably needs to see at vet.
And it’s raining hard again, so I’ll be off to bed soon as the contractors are due at 8am tomorrow. Take care all.
nellie, best wishes for a successful surgery and easy recovery. We’re always with you in spirit.
swampy, did two trips out of my abode today, which is fairly active for me.
Gentle hugs and sympathy for tomorrow. Take the pain medicine on schedule, stay ahead of the pain rather than trying to knock it back. I”m glad your daughter will be there! Here’s {{{{ hugs }}}} for her too.
Let us know if I need to come out there and use my night nurse voice on any one.
That sounds so delishush. Nearest TJ appears to be roughly 40 miles away, though, so I’ll just be sad. (I’m one of the “Team Cilantro!!” people.)
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 65 degrees Ferret Height(18.333 Centipedes)
read that as WRATH call.
[Whoopi Goldberg]You in danger, girl[/Whoopi Goldberg]
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/48f with a predicted high of 15c/58f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Could be colder, could be fucking warmer. I don’t fucking care at this point.”
I am sorry that things with your mother are so difficult and that your sister has been in denial about so much. I suppose it’s not unexpected, we are the last to want to face up to what’s happening with our loved ones. I am sorry it’s all falling on you now though, but hopefully the break will give your sister time to think about the whole situation.
It’s not
It’s like conjunctivitis but more painful, and (for me) requires a combination of anti-biotics and steriods. Once I have them, the pain goes away very quickly but I have to use both sets of drops four times a day for two weeks.
That sounds like great news, if only that it means Meniere’s is not the problem.
I really don’t care, as long as it’s bacon!
Fingers, toes and paws crossed for your surgery, and a swift pain-free recovery.
Yesterday was quite a good day, I had a couple of meetings that I needed to be at so once they were over, I skipped out of work and went to the eye A&E at my local hospital. I only had to wait a couple of hours (I think they had my name in the system but didn’t have a piece of paper to go with it). I had the usual vision test, and they checked the pressure in my eyes which was fine. Then I saw one of the lovely nurses who agreed that I do indeed have an ulcer. She looked at the prescription history and gave me exactly the same stuff as I’ve had before (steroid drops and anti-biotic drops) to use four times a day for two weeks. The pharmacy in the block next door was still open so I went to get my meds and saved nearly £20 by reaching the ripe old age of free prescriptions.
'im indoors made ribs and chips for dinner which was yummy, I medicated myself and sat in a dim room for the evening (bright lights is painful, y’know). Today’s commute was hassle-free, and I have been excused from a meeting this afternoon. That means I’ve just got one training session this morning to sit through and then I can get on with ordinary work later.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and rainin’ with a predicted high of 80 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted pretty much all day. We are also under a tornado watch until ten a.m. Precious will be in a tizzy! I should watch his weather forecast. A definite day of RDOS sloth ahead as the plan is to be inside and dry. Ima make a pot of chikin ‘n rice for sup along with some roasted spare guts and squishes and rolls. For some reason I have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for chikin 'n rice.
MOOOOOOM hope Otis is better today, poor baby!
BooFae glad you got the needed meds. Hope the eye is all better soonest.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
We’re starting with 56 Ferrets and won’t get too many more today. There’s also a possibility of rain and no promise of sun, so icky overall. I woke with a very painful shoulder and I’m not sure why. The most strenuous thing I did yesterday was carry my sewing machine about 40’ from the guest room to the dining room. So I started my day with extra-strength acetaminophen.
I was going to work in the yard, but I think I’ll pass on moving gravel. Instead, I’ll spend some time weeding the new landscaping. I noticed the other day it was showing far too many nasties. And since we’ve had some rain, that should make them easier to yank up.
And if it does rain, I have a bazillion towels and blankets in various plastic bins that need to be sorted. I didn’t realize how many I had till I went in search of fabric yesterday. So I have things to keep me occupied today.
Otis started acting like his old self last night - we’ll see what today brings. Ziva, on the other hand, is showing her age more and more. She comes down the hallway like a pinball, bouncing from one side to the other, apparently trying to figure out where she is, poor baby.
Guess I should get in gear. Happy Thursday!
Morning all. Up early and have broken fast with toast and bacon (and threw some lettuce and tomato into the mix) along with an apple so belly is happy with me. Contractors are due at 8am, so I need to move the car to the curb, but not to far, it is also trash pickup day and need to leave room for the truck to turn around (I’m near the end of a cul-de-sac) and pickup my neighbors bin. Otherwise nothing much planned, I need to return a soccer ball to a kid who left it behind last Saturday at her practice today, but given all the rain yesterday (today is supposed to be dry, all the rain has left to torment swampy, doggio and possibly FCM) the field may remain closed and I’ll have to do it Saturday. Otherwise sloth and internettin’ will occupy my time. Might download my vacation pictures to a flash drive and get some of them up on Facebook, but depends if the lazies take over or not.
boo fae, glad the Docs could treat your eye ulcer, never been fond of eye drops but in this case they are the cure so hope they go as planned. And so few meetings? Your superiors are lacking ambition, I see…

FCM, happy weeding and glad Otis is doing better, best wished to Ziva.
And I hear the sound of the garbage truck, so hopefully they’ll be here early and I can move my car without interfering with the pickup. Such are the worries of a Thorsday morning…
FCD is trying to get an appointment with the vet for Otis after we did some googling about him not eating. (He still didn’t eat this morning.) Their office opens in about half an hour.
nelliebly, best of luck. i hope you have a quick and easy recovery.
fcm, i hope otis does well at the vet.
Good morning. My Fitbit decided I was sleeping soundly, so I got up closer to five for my walk, so I missed a good sunrise. Mrs Magill had her OurPath (not WPATH) call last night. Apparently, I’ve been more open with her than it sounds like most people in my position have been with their spouses. She mentioned that she felt like she had been lied to, but then acknowledged that it had been unintentional, and I had been lying to myself first. Also, it seems that a lot of folks in my position run around and have affairs, which I consider unthinkable, so… yay, me… I guess? She didn’t kick me out, and I wasn’t a complete ass - Let’s hear it for low bars!
I’ve altered my timeline for telling Squeaky and Spike. Squeaky has an AP test Monday, and we would rather he not be distracted, so I’ll wait a couple of days.
My father texted. Since his cataract surgery fourteen years ago, his macula had been inflamed. That’s finally gone away. For the first time in his life, he has 20/20 vision. He looks weird without glasses.
That’s all the news that isn’t.
Lucky - My sister had TMJ. I recall the dentist gave her a mouth guard to sleep in, but I could be totally mstaken.
Do not taunt Angry Italian Woman.
Swampy Your Chicken and Rice comment reminded me - I need to pull some ground beef from the deep freeze for dinner tomorrow.
Vet appointment at 11.
Wishing Otis well.
Good morning.
It’s 48F and cloudy right now. The forecast calls for mostly cloudy to partly cloudy skies throughout the day, with a daytime high of 65F.
Nellie, sending you best thoughts for a trouble-free surgery and a speedy recovery!
FCM, I hope the vet can find out what’s troubling Otis.
BooFae, I’m glad you got your appointment and eye meds, and I hope the meds work quickly.
My son may have found a solution for Zeus. He was discussing the problems with his co-workers during a meeting. One of the co-workers said that his brother had a farm with two other Great Pyrenees, with one being close to the end of his time and that he might be willing to take Zeus. That would be the perfect solution for all concerned because my son really didn’t want to take Zeus back to the shelter. We’re all hoping the brother will take Zeus.
When I arrived at the hospital yesterday, my mother was sleeping. She woke for a little while, was barely coherent, didn’t know why she was there, and fell back asleep. I went downstairs and grabbed a bite to eat, and then came back up. The OT folks came and looked at her feet and elbows, along with an abrasion on her tailbone. They found a black spot on her foot, too.
The nurse in charge of her care came in to report on her escape attempts and the care that had been provided. Later, her hospitalist and surgeon came in. The surgeon changed her dressing and stated the arm and wound looked good, although to me, her arm and hand looked almost as swollen and bright red as they did pre-surgery. I was pleased to note, however, that the area of redness had retreated from her upper arm.
Finally, the PT came in for assessment for rehab/SNF. She’s definitely being referred for that, and she’ll be at the hospital for another 2 or 3 days. During her assessment, she didn’t know what year it was, why she was there, or where she was. She knew her full name and date of birth without hesitation. She was just coming out of drugs to calm her down, plus the infection, but all the same, I did report on her memory issues. I also reported she keeps herself and her house clean and does her own laundry. She ate her lunch, with my help, and kept going back for more, so that when I left, her plate was cleaned, and she’d eaten her diced pears and jello.
I reported all this to my sister via text, and she called last night. She swears my mother knew the date/time/year last week, but I dunno. H was distressed to find out about the escape attempts, and I told her the hospitalist informed me they would use restraints if she tried again. H swears my mother is not as bad as I seem to think she is, and, to be fair, she is around my mother much, much more than I am. Still, I think it’s worth assessing. If I’m wrong, great! If I’m not wrong, then let’s start working on a solution before someone is hurt.
I’m not sure if I’ll go to the hospital today. I was there for four hours yesterday, and I’d like to take care of some things at home. I did tell my mother that I might not come by today, so she was warned, but promised I would be back the day after if I didn’t return today.
Alright, I need to get my day started. You all take care of yourselves, please.
{{{Taters}}}
When my mother was ill, and my sister was the responsible adult in Raleigh, she would have me come in to see how our mother was doing. Apparently, it was easier for me to see decline, because I was 800 miles away and didn’t see her every day.
I can’t figure this dog out. When I was out flinging some clover seeds where I refilled the holes, Otis was bringing me his jug and we played fetch. earlier, I gave him a dentastick and he took it outside and dropped it in the yard. So I took it back inside and he took it out again and dropped it. I went to retrieve it and he carried it away, watching me all the while. So as I was seeding I’d occasionally glance his way - he’d walk somewhere, then turn and look at me, then walk somewhere else. He finally went between the shop and the shed and as near as I can tell, he buried the stick in the leaves there. So weird…
He’s drinking a fair bit, and he ate a small dog cookie, but that’s been it. We’ll see what the vet has to say. We’ll be leaving shortly (which is meaningless if you’re reading this tonight…) Appt at 11, it’s 10:20 at the moment. ![]()
