Things put forward by the Trump administration that are acutally good ideas

That’s about the only useful idea he’s had. Odds of it happening continue to be low.

… but I’m betting “supplement” commercials will still be with us.

Oh yes.

Might have to wait a bit to see the HHS Sec. himself hawking methylene blue. Whatever company signs him up will make a fortune.

Somebody please let him know about the benefits of colloidal silver.

Think Versailles, only more gold leaf.

if I were a contractor I wouldn’t touch this job given Trump’s track record of stiffing people.

At least if the room is actually useful and just butt ugly the ugliness can be removed.

Supposedly funding is coming from private donations. That just means it’s not a government contract so he can screw them.

Even if it is a government contract I’m sure he’d issue an executive order to pay 50 cents on the dollar invoiced.

If he was feeling generous…

Never happened in Trump 45. Why would he care if the government has to pay in the end?

As I mentioned before, Trump implied that the Secret Service will pick up part of the tab.

If justified, there should be a bill passed through congress to authorize tearing down and rebuilding the East Wing. Once again here, Trump is ruling by decree.

I think this violates the anti-deficiency act, which, according to old training from back when I was a fed, says that:

(a) You as a government employee are forbidden to purchase something on the government’s behalf unless it is properly traced back to a congressional appropriation.

(b) The government employee should be disciplined for violating the act.

(c) The vendor has to be paid by the government.

Since Trump is clearly above the law, (b) above will not apply. But (c) will.

I’m still trying to get my head around this one. Since it appears to check just about every box that Trump is opposed to.

  1. Foreign aid
  2. “shithole” countries
  3. black people benefiting
  4. medical science
  5. anything that people associate with gays
  6. An actual good policy that will benefit humanity

And yet his administration seems to be going ahead with it. I assume that there has got to be some catch that results in world wide misery, and Trump cashing in, but so far I’m not seeing lt.

I’m going to guess this is something that the U.S. government agencies does autonomously on its own and Trump is either unaware, or doesn’t care enough to stop it.

Oh, if he becomes aware, they’ll destroy the meds.

Operation Warp Speed was a good thing as far as it went. Pushing production before the approval came through might have worked. He could have guaranteed Pfizer, Moderna, etc their money even if they were not approved.

I would love it if this administration overthrew the government in Venezuela. Its an oppressive shithole. If the government there falls and is replaced by a transition government so the country of Venezuela can go back to democracy, that will be a huge win. Venezuela used to be one of the few democracies in a continent of dictatorships, now thats reversed.

Keep in mind I’m not talking about a land invasion. But if they could use diplomatic, economic and military pressure to force regime change that would be good. Venezuela has gone to shit since Chavez and Maduro converted it into a dictatorship.

Sure, maybe, in theory. But in looking at Trump over the last seven months or so, do you think he has the skill or intelligence to pull this off?

He still hasn’t figured out the Putin has no interest in a peace agreement.

Yeah fair enough. And if it does get regime change, I would never trust this administration to handle it well. I guess the best case scenario is the US helps with regime change and the EU helps with setting up the interm government.

But its sad whats happened to Venezuela. A quarter of the people have left in the last decade, and most people are on the brink of starvation.

I can’t figure out Trump’s relationship with Putin anymore.

People do not like to be invaded. If you invade a country and try to set up a real democracy where the people have political power, they will use that power to undo whatever you have done.

I know its a tricky situation, but the people in Uganda under Amin or in Cambodia under Pol Pot would disagree. As I said, about 1/4 of the country has left due to how bad starvation is there.

After the fraudulent elections in 2019, about 60 nations asked Maduro to step down and allow a transitional government. This includes most of the governments in Latin America as well as most governments in NATO. The public in Venezuela voted for change, but the Chavez/Maduro government has changed the constitution and packed the supreme court so voter input doesn’t matter anymore.

Particularly when, in reality, the president and other rich guys won even more than that amount with the asinine tax breaks and other graft brought by the current administration.

I didn’t think I could post here sincerely, but last night Trump did a 180 and recognized a real problem in the American system of justice:

Justice delayed is justice denied. It’s been seven months since Kash Patel was confirmed as FBI director. It’s been 24 months since Patel’s book, with the enemies list, was published. This seems to me more than enough time for the government to complete such investigations and for there to be a jury trial, if need be.

I suspect that Trump is making inconsistent statements to allow his fans to embrace whichever Trump they want to embrace, so long as it is Donald J. Trump. I also suspect he is going to be upset if no one on the Patel enemies list is arrested. But he did say something I liked last night.
