Things ruined in Germany by the Nazis

Gott im himmel! Ich bin Ihnen sehr dankbar, Herr Bloom. A bit too rich for my blood too, though, reminds me of when I was looking up WWII/Nazi terms for a poll, obviously language and terminology is where the moustached one casts a long shadow.

the term “Führer” on its own: yes.
For most other political uses it is also taboo - with the exception of some compound words, most commonly is probably "Oppositionsführer " (leader of the opposition). Rebellenführer (rebel leader) is another example.

That book is also on Google Books - not available online as full text, but you can search the full text.

But not the same degree of comparison, at least in the USA, when Israel grabs territory in the Golan Heights, and supports illegal settlements in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.

I don’t want to derail this thread, but Nazi Germany also ruined the dream that Jews, Christians and Muslims could largely all get along and live together in the Holy Lands. Radicalization of everyone including the Zionists who were, understandably perhaps, determined to carve out a Jewish State as opposed to just a homeland. Maybe things would have gone this way anyway, but the Nazis seemed to give some Zionist the moral justification to behave just as badly as everyone else to those who are different.

Seems fishy to me, to say the least.

Expressions like “verschollen” definitely weren’t coined by the Nazis. That’s just bogus. Other words are merely bureaucrat-speak, legalese or technical terms.

88 could be a birth year, though.
