Well this is kind of important. And it sure as hell is infuriating.
Credit card number got stolen. Seems to happen about once a year. I delt with it and was waiting for a new card. I never received it or saw it. So of course I didn’t activate it. Somebody intercepted the card they where sending me to replace the one that the number got stolen. They activated it and started buying stuff. I thought there where protections in place, how can some random person activate my card?
So, round two. I canceled the new card, the one I never even saw.
My mail box locks so it wasn’t some random Joe that took it out of my mail box. So either the Post Office lost it, or my postman is committing fraud himself. Or someone at VISA is doing it.

I asked VISA to expedite the delivery of my (second) new card. They wanted $16 for that. I think that should be on them. This isn’t MY fault.
I think there should be a was to charge assholes by the hour. I’m sick and tired of dealing with this. And now I have to check my card daily, I don’t know what the hell is going on.
I need to go to the bank and get more cash, but If the expedite the delivery (don’t know if they are gonna) I think I need to be home to sign for it. I need to mow the backyard, but if I do that I won’t hear the doorbell. So I’m a hostage in my own house.
I would use a different bank/issuer. Or maybe go with MasterCard or Discover.
Getting your CC number stolen annually is not normal. As you suspect, there’s probably a leak somewhere.
I have an alert set on my phone for each and every charge on my MasterCard. You might look into that. If your issuer doesn’t have that capability, then it’s may be time to look elsewhere.
The one thing they do seem to do right is catch fraudulent charges. The fraudsters seem to ‘fish’ by buying something that isn’t too expensive and see if it sets off alarms. The first alarm was someone buying something from a yoga store. The second one was from a software reseller.
One thing (of many) that my wife and I did right is keep our finances completely separate. Sure, we share expenses but not things like checking accounts and CC’s. So she was not impacted.
That is some passive aggressive BS right there. It would be a shame if they accidently left some personal property that they’d like back that is now by law and custom yours to do with as you see fit.
Yes. And I certainly wouldn’t keep a personal belonging that they left behind. I would send it to them. I might include a roll of TP though that’s a bit too passive aggressive.
I’m fascinated and outraged by the petty intrigues within Britain’s royal family. The actual number of people directly affected by their bickery infighting would fit in my dinky living room. Still gets my goat, though!
There was no TP in my house when I bought it and I think it would have been weird if there had been. I probably brought over the TP that was in my previous apartment. It was mine, I can’t think of any reason to leave it behind any more than I’d leave the bath towels behind.
When I was about six we arrived about dusk to take possession of a house my parents had bought. In Arizona at the time we were big on ceiling light fixtures and still had fuses instead of breakers. The previous owner had taken every single light bulb and fuse.
We had come prepared to spend the first night in sleeping bags because the furniture was still packed. We had not foreseen t would be in the dark with no swamp cooler.
At least a light bulb has an indefinite lifetime, unlike half a roll of TP. But fuses? That’s likely a violation of the purchase & sales agreement, in spirit if not in letter. It’s close to removing all the sockets or switches or the like.
As in they physically cut it with a hacksaw but left the heater? Just to render it useless until you get a licensed pipefitter in, to piss off the buyers? That’s insanity.
