Things to do in Boston this weekend?

My SO and I will be there for the next few days (Sat-Mon). I already know where the museums and tourist attractions are, but are there any musical performances or other events we should consider?

If you can extend your stay a few days, you can come to a Dopefest!

You just missed the biggest event of the year, but check out www.boston.com. That always has listings of local events.

Yes, as tdn states, Boston’s biggest event of the year takes place this coming Wednesday, the 11th, at McCormick and Schmick’s.

In addition to the link he provided, you might check out The Boston Phoenix (former local home of The Straight Dope column).

If you like biking, Bostonbiketours.com is a great way to see some of the nieghborhoods & parks close up. My wife & I have lived in the Boston area all our life & we have seen more of Boston during these tours than we ever did.

Also, Blue Man Group has perfomances in the theatre district that are alot of fun

Thanks for the replies. I’m afraid I can’t stay for the Dopefest.

We’ve recently seen a Blue Man Group concert, so maybe not another one so soon. No other specific recommendations?

Do you like Italian? Stroll down to the North End (walking distance from many T stops) and stop in any one of a number of authentic and reasonably priced restaurants. Then afterwards stop in for a improv comedy show at the Improv Asylum, which is in the neighborhood.

I also did The Ghosts and Gravestones Tour recently. It was fun, but maybe a little pricey for some people. Also, it’s staying bright out here pretty late, so don’t book any time but the 9PM.

All these things, Faneuil Hall, North End, Improv Asylum, and the Ghost Tour are all very easily within walking distance of each other. I’ve got other suggestions, but we’ll keep it simple for now.

It’s difficult to say, not knowing your musical tastes and where you’re staying. And I mean that in a much less snarky way than it sounds, honestly.

It’s also difficult because I truly do not get out much. But I thought the links might help.

So what did you do?
