I’m leaving next Thursday for a business trip to the west coast! I’ll be arriving at Orange County John Wayne airport Thursday afternoon for a quick stop in the OC office, then it’s a drive to LA.
I’ll be in LA Thursday night til Saturday evening, then a quick flight up to San Francisco. I’ll leave SF Monday at noon. I’ll be working all day, including the weekend, but my nights are free
Now, I’ve never been to SF, and I’ve only passed through LAX on my way to Australia. So, here’s my query for the teeming millions:
What can I do for two nights in LA and two nights in SF without a car?
If it matters (which it probably will, since I’ll be sans private transportation), I’ll be near the beach on Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica for the first leg, then near Geary Street and Market in San Fran.
Since you’ll be close, you ought to check out the Santa Monica Pier - it probably won’t take you long, unless you really like little carnival games, but hey why not?
What kind of things do you like to do? Nightlife? Eating? We’ve had a dopefest at Ye Olde King’s Head, which is within walking distance from the Santa Monica Pier…Johnny LA, I know you know the address…
Okay, I’ll ask the office staff for directions to the pier.
As for nightlife - I’m not into dancing or clubbing at all, but I hit quiet bars on occassion, but usually not while alone. I do like eating, as long as it’s priced right. I need to submit an expense report, and I doubt a huge food bill would go over well
I’m fairly into photography, and I’ll be bringing along a digital SLR, but I probably won’t have much sunlight for good shots.
My office is near Geary & Market… drop me an email and I can make some recommendations. I don’t live too far away from there, so maybe we can have a drink or dinner. The weather should be pretty nice, but can’t promise - bring a jacket!
