Things to do in Vegas when you're dead - a holiday MMP

 Just that would put me IN the hospital, Shadow!
And why is HazelNut yelling at old people? You can practice on me–but no promises to not yell back…
I thought Attacks Husband was called that because he liked to shoot arrows at stuff. I am probably wrong. Sucks about the car seat–you don’t have a Target equivalent up there? They shouldn’t be that hard to find…

I am up from a nap and feeling better, but I already called in for work tomorrow. I can’t really afford to do that, but I thought, hang on-you had pneumonia just 6 months ago, let’s go slow with this stuff. The Husband was ok with it. (didn’t ask his permission, but he knew I was going to call in). Tomorrow I’ll do Xmas cards and the kid calendar we send to everyone who has Everything (ie parents). It’s nice to have the time to do it, with finals over and all.
Rosie-that ice sounds awful! Good luck with that.

I should have heat next Tuesday!

I was saying that I can’t yell at older people, because MamaTigs was asking someone to yell at her to get back to work.

:: giggles :: Somehow the thought of wandering the streets, randomly yelling at old people amuses me. I wouldn’t yell anything mean. I’d yell something arbitrary, like “I AM A BANANA!” or “THE SPOON IS TOO BIG!”

ETA: keeping fingers crossed for you, ems!!

That’s all code, isn’t it. You say it’s random, but I know it’s code for “come get another one, Ralph, before she starts collecting the Social Security.” I’m onto you, Missy. (I also think your random yellings would more likely get YOU locked up, but that’s another matter).

I sound like Kathleen Turner after 2 packs of unfiltered Camels. Not so much sexy as painful to listen to. Off to re-re-re-read Harry Potter (and buy the new DVD with my Amazon gift thingy! yay!)

Yay for you Shadow! Sounds like they like you at work.

mmmmmm’s glad you’re gonna get heat but that still sounds like a loooooong time to wait.

rigs smart plan. I remember when you had pnuemonia (why does it always look like it ain’t spelled right!) and had to go to the horsepistol and all. We can’t have that again, now can we?

Know what sounds good? Soaking in a bubble bath whilst sippin’ on a nice glass of wine. Have I ever told y’all that I’m gay?

I am home. The roads weren’t that bad - all the panicky loons had left hours earlier and waarmed the roads up for me and the few others out there. The parking lot at work, however… I called Security and asked one of them to walk me to my car, which he did. And I may just call them in the a.m., too, since facilities never does a decent job - to them, a “cleared path” is the width of a shovel, and never mind the icy, slippery bits between the car and the path… again
Pie -

 and he’s basing this on what, now? I bet one person, one!, mentioned one little thing s/he didn’t like and Stoopit took it upon himself to pass judgement on the whole affair. Schmuck. I hate people like that.

Haze - does anyone you know have anything to do with this?

My country has invented glow-in-the-dark cats??!?!?!

Sometimes, I am proud to be Korean.

It sounds like heaven–but not together. That would be GAY. As in lame. Not to mention weird. We could have adjoining bathrooms, and shout to one another whilst bathing. Of course, I can barely whisper, so it would be me listening to you.
On second thought…

ems-I was adding to my last post and exceeded the time thingy. Drat it. Anyway, here it is: I hope your Irish dander keeps you warm until Tuesday. (Jesus-are you Irish? Why do I think you’re Irish? Now I think you might just be Northern English–my crap memory again). Oh, well–take this as it is meant: I’d go all Ogma or Luchthaine on their asses. Will have to Google other Celtic/Gaelic gods, if needed.

Really screws up that French proverb, though–the one that goes, “In the night, all cats are gray.” Oh, no they’re not!

I keep forgetting to mention - one of my posts in a humor thread earned a decent* response! Talk about being proud! :stuck_out_tongue:

  • decent as in not snarky

No Tar-jay up here in the frozen North. My MiL just suggested Wal-Mart. I do not love Wal-Mart for all the usual reasons (business practises etc.), but I may be forced up there.

gotti, we’ve already got a stroller ordered. It costs $2,395,934,969,952,030,340 or so. I didn’t want a combined stroller/carseat because they’re usually very heavy, and we don’t have a car, so I’ll be using the stroller a lot. Up and down stairs and things. Anyway, I’d like a cheap carseat if I can find one.
Attacks Things Randomly Husband really does attack things randomly. He, Mr. Lissar, and Driving Husband (and the other Sensei) are all martial arts aficianados of one type or another. Generally he attacks doorframes. And Mr. Lissar. They have a sort of Kato/Clouseau relationship. He’s shorter, more wiry, and faster than Mr. Lissar. They spend a lot of time cheerfully hitting each other. Mr. Lissar usually loses, because Attacks Husband is more vicious. And really, really fast.

He attacked Mr. Lissar at his own wedding reception. His wife had to explain what was going on to her family, who looked a little shocked. I thought it was pretty funny, and so did she. She thinks it’s great that I will cheerfully read while they’re rolling around on the floor, trying to kill each other.

mmmmms, glad to hear that you will have heat soon.

Shadow, I agree with swampy, it definitely sounds like your employers like you!

Damn. Just forgot whatever else I wanted to say.

Oh yeah, rosie, thanks for the sympathy about the snarky complainer. Also, I loved your post that you linked to.

Well, I need to get to bed soon even though it’s early. Supposedly there’s some sort of gathering at the Rubbermaid warehouse at 4 in the morning where you can get 66% off of the purchase price! I’m going to bring lots of cash.

Still too wound up to sleep, though. Maybe I’ll watch the episodes of Monk and Psych that I saved on the DVR.

Other than the prospect of heat I have had a sucky day.

The powers that be are in cost cutting/trimming the fat mode. I had to lay off 2 contractors today and in January there will be 11-13 permenant people going.

This bites :frowning:

Li-Li - what about this? It’s their Canadian site

I just ordered HP and the OOP from Amazon. I only $12 left on a gift card, drat it all, but at least I got the 2 disc for half price. Off to bed, as I have taken Comtrex nighttime and will pass out soon from the anti-histamine…

Back from a brief round of Christmas shopping and getting plates, napkins and plastic ware for a potluck tomorrow. It was declared that tomorrow was a snack day around noon today and by 2:00 or so it had escalated into a full-blown potluck. I’m not sure what’s wrong with us. Our potlucks are generally catered because most of my team is either too busy or not gifted in the realm of cooking. But someone’s bringing sloppy joes, someone’s bringing a vegetable plate, there will be lots of cookies and chips and such.

Hugs to everyone.

That’s great about your job, Shadow. Obviously they value you. I’m also glad you’re going forward and getting help right away. Seems like recognizing the point where you need help is really important.

Sounds like things are going better today, Cutie Pie. Yay!

Hope that cold goes away soon, rigs. Good choice calling off tomorrow. Your pneumonia was memorable; we’d prefer not to accumulate more memories of that sort, if you don’t mind.

The glowy cats are a hoot. You should indeed very proud to be Korean, Hank.

Glad there’s prospect of heat, mmmmmmmmmms. They better actually fix it then or I might be on a plane to California to give them a piece of my mind personally. Sorry about the awful work situation, though.

I loved your emo-essay, Hank. Yeah, I think there are people who feel like they’re our other half; sometime they’re our evil twin and sometimes truly our better half.

Hope you find the right car seat soon, LiLi. I walked past the car seat aisle at Target tonight and thought of you.

I’m tired (I was in meetings from 8:00-2:30 today pretty much non-stop. I had a completely drained brain by the end of that. Actually had one more little meeting after that; didn’t remember until after I got home. Had to go deal with something and got completely distracted.

Guess I’ll toddle off to bed…

More hugs for all.

GT

You can yell at me any time you want, Haze. I’m not that much older. :dubious: But yay for SKorean glow-in-the-dark cats! Is that cool or what?

LiLi, lots of U.S. hospitals actually have carseats available for purchase by parents who don’t own one – you’re not allowed to take Junior home without owning your own carseat. Have you asked your midwife? That might be a good place to check.

Well, in this case that’s because it ain’t spelled right. It’s pneumonia.

Yay for good employers, Shadow! I hope you’re able to get things resolved quickly; knowing that you have good people watching your back should certainly help.

I actually did get some work done. Then Papa Tigs ordered pizza, and then Jeopardy was on. It’s a conspiracy, I tell you. (But the pizza was delish!)

Uh-oh… Better not read my new pit thread. :dubious:

In Korea, age is everything. Like, I had girls who were not even a year younger than me inclining their heads to me as greeting and using the same honorifics as they would use to their mothers. As someone who was brought up in the US I found it uncomfortable - and burdensome. I mean, if someone is going to look up to me so much I feel a responsibility to live up to their expectations, you know?

But if you really want me to yell at you…

Olive, crazy cat, is convinced that the new Christmas decorations I’ve put up are evil and must be destroyed. I hung a string of ornaments on the archway seperating our living room from the dining area, and she keeps trying to attack them, despite the fact she’d have to jump ten times her height to reach them.

Drive by, I slept badly and my back is acting up again. I finally gave in and too a couple of pain meds along with my muscle relaxer, so I will be sleeping very soon.

I will be back tomorrow, y’all be safe, behave, and if you can’t behave, then be good! :stuck_out_tongue:
