Things you did as a kid, and still do.

No way… I just had a bowl like 2 hours ago! Crazy…

Actually, that is what inspired me to write this thread. Which is why I mentioned cereal first. :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: ok… about 5 hours ago…

When faced with sugar cubes, I will eat them, straight. Just like when I was a kid.

They’re little cubes of sugar! HOW CAN I RESIST THEM?

I still get really excited over the prospect of staying up late on a Friday or Saturday night. It doesn’t matter that I stay up until 11:30 or 12 most nights and have a toddler who gets me up at 6 a.m. regardless of the day; there’s just something special about a weekend.

I still tell myself stories in my head. They’ve matured as I’ve gotten older, but I still do it as I fall asleep at night and I daydream and tell myself stories anytime my mind isn’t occupied by work, family or friends. Fortunately, they’re profitable. Even so, I’ve never felt compelled not to do it.

I still like to play hide and seek. I don’t do it as much now, but when my husband and I were childless, he’d run after me to tickle me and I’d climb on top of the washer and dryer and pull the doors shut (ours were in a closet in the middle of the hall). He could never find me.

I used to eat these by the box when I was a kid. Man, I miss em’… Haven’t had them since I was 5 or 6 though. I’m sure I’d have no issue eating them like I used to if given the opportunity.

I still “save the best for last” when eating. If it’s a sandwich, I eat around the edge first, then the middle. Pies (including pizza), the crust first. Cake, the cake then the frosting.

I sleep with a teddy bear.

Often when I’m sick, I watch kids shows on PBS (I watched Arthur yesterday!)

I insist on watching “Christmas Eve on Sesame Street (1979)” every Christmas eve.

Build sandcastles. Bodysurf in the ocean. Build snowforts. Have snowball fights. Eat sugar cubes when available; sugary kids’ cereal, too. Tell really bad jokes and groaner puns. Play D&D and board games. Go for a ride on my bike and enjoy the wind in my hair. Develop crushes on cute girls. Play my music too loud. Read comic books.

Tune out much of what my mom tells me.

I create stories in my head non-stop all day

I LOVE stuffed animals, I love to hold them and if I didn’t restrain myself I would have a ton of em

I still love dinosaurs

I pretend ALL the time. I pretend I am acting in a movie, I pretend I am on a talk show, I’m giving interviews, married, all the things I am not…I pretend to be.

Read comics.

Play video games.

Ceareal for breakfast. This morning I had Cocoa Pebbles.

Watch Saturday morning cartoons and cartoons in general. The Cartoon Network is one of top five channels.

I like to sit on the floor most of the time when I am watching tv. When I was young my brother and I had to sit on the floor because we only had a tiny couch just big enough for two adults. I find it comfortable sitting on the floor and leaning back against the couch.

I opt for sliding around my house in socks instead of walking. This still ends up with me on the floor every once in a while.

Deliberately don’t stir things like chocolate milk or coffee so that the last sip is either pure chocolate or pure coffee flavored sugar.

Tomato soup whenever I’m sick. And grilled cheese if available.

I sleep with a stuffed animal.

I like to sing in the shower.

I still play video games.

I doodle all over everything.

When at the beach for a day, I MUST make a sandcastle.

I still love legos, dollhouses, and mini-golf.

I don’t jaywalk across major roads.

I don’t litter.

This is one of my favorites. Even better if I’m wearing a man’s dress shirt.

When I find myself alone in a long hallway, I often run down it and do a jumping kick at the end. Plus just lots of fake ninja moves, in general.

I still sleep with a teddy bear when I’m home. If I’m sleeping at my boyfriend’s, I’m sleeping with a life-sized version

I keep waiting for my roommate to come in and yell at me for staying up too late playing computer games or reading so I try to be really, really quiet. (She is about a 10 years older than me).

I eat cereal whenever I can.

I wear socks too - and love to lounge in my jammies all day (although I never did this as a kid.)

I love to color.

If I’ve just finished eating something yummy, I will lick the plate. Not while anyone’s watching though.

I rub my feet together when I’m falling asleep.

Hold my breath when driving over a bridge, and cross my fingers when driving across railroad tracks. I’m not even superstitious, it just reminds me of childhood roadtrips with my grandparents.

When I’m walking behind someone and I know they can’t see me, I walk like Mae West, with the hips and the hand and everything. Man! That cracked me up then, and it cracks me up now.

I still like building things with legos, however now its more architectural. I too, still used the force to open sliding doors and elevators. Once in a while still try to move something with my mind. Still smoke Marlboro Reds (thats right, started at six).

I was always a somewhat strange child, that didn’t do many childish things, and therefore, although I still retain many of those traits, they are not so obviously childish. But they are to me.

Or something.

Oh yeah, I still have conversations, debates and arguments with people who aren’t present.

What did you say?

I did this too as a kid. I remember “inventing” it. I once ate 12 in a row.

Mom would only allow us three cookies for a snack, and I still eat cookies in threes.

There was a window to the right of my bed (while on my stomach) that I was afraid to look out while going to sleep. While I’m not afraid anymore, to this day I can’t lie comfortably with my head to the right.

Oh - and walking on the curb like it’s a balance beam. LOVE THAT!

No joke, my first grade report card says, “Laura expresses herself well in writing, but has trouble keeping quiet in class.” Yeah…good thing they punished me for THAT. Nothing has changed. I write for a living and I still can’t shut up and stop talking to my cubicle mates.

Additionally:

  1. I color and find a new box of crayons to be one of the most exciting things ever.
  2. I love cartoons.
  3. If I see someone who looks unusual or who is doing something “strange” I make up a story about why.
  4. I keep a “secret diary.”
  5. I pick up my feet and say “Beeeep!” when crossing a state (or any) border.
  6. I eat the good stuff on my plate first in case I don’t have room for everything.
  7. I wear sparkly stuff.
  8. I don’t understand why I can’t have more recess.

I walk like that anyways, but after you made me laugh with this post, I’m gonna double it up.
