Here’s something I don’t like: the rule that if there’s any thread that discusses what people don’t like, it has to go in The Pit. It’s actually possible to have a civil conversation about things you don’t like, but such threads always get relocated to The Pit, where it invariably become a free-for-all.

Reading this thread, it appears that I avoid a lot of the more irksome stuff or tune out rather quickly, but there is one thing that gets me every time:

I’m in Cafe Society, settling in to a fun sounding thread about tv, characters on tv, plots on tv shows - whatever. And then, out of nowhere it’s all. about. BUFFY! And not that cute one who lived with Uncle Bill and Mr. French either! :mad:

I actually think a thread like this has to be in the Pit. I’m not sure a civil discussion could be had when you’re talking about things you don’t like about the board itself; some posts are going to hit a little too close to home and provoke responses, and in any other forum it’s just going to get messy.

One additional point… there are some here that won’t apologize when shown in even the smallest error. Despite if it was instituted in the Constitution/commanded by the deity of their choice/proven to save their life and that of their loved ones. They usual just devolve into a pedantic ( ) argument to refuse saying “sorry.” Does it diminish someone some way by doing so? If that’s correct, then no wonder I’m a non-entity. Mea culpa.

Blind hatred of the US and the POTUS. An inability to see that democracies are about a zillion times better than tyrannies.

I’m not saying that I personally hate the US-I don’t, the very opposite, in fact. But these things are NOT representative of democracy, and they are a black stain on our nation’s history.

Now, back on topic. The things I don’t like? I’d say most of them are technical-I don’t like how the server lags. (Considering that I’ve visited boards that are way busier and we don’t have to pay and they don’t perform as poorly as this one). I also hate that the search was extended to 2 minutes.
(Insert joke about how my post count doesn’t reflect a problem with any of the above)

Actually, that would unclutter the other forums and when, say, someone says that Bush-bashing threads were old three years ago, RedFury can just start one and link to it here. Hmmm… that almost seems like a good idea, but what we’d need is a clever name for the forum.

Yeah, this stuff isn’t tiresome at all. :rolleyes: NOBODY is defending Bush. This thread is NOT ABOUT BUSH. It’s a thread that is about a subject other than George W. Bush. His arrogance, his hubris, his mass-murderage, his tough-guy/world leader status or lack thereof – all of it is completely irrelevant (and, not incidentally, aggravating) because this thread is NOT ABOUT BUSH.

He’ll never get that.

There is no such thing as a person who dislikes Bush and doesn’t agree with Redfury about absolutely everything. No way, no how. Doesn’t exist. Can’t exist. And that, to bring this back on topic, is one thing I dislike about the SDMB these days: the unremitting, rampant, knee-jerk hatred in the political threads. Even now, when virtually everybody agrees that Bush is at best an incompetent fool, people just refuse to find the common ground that is clearly there to be found, instead poisoning thread after thread.

I think the Dancing Penises and the Bouncing Testicles are both fantastic band names.
