Things you hate in shows you like, and why.

The thread title seems pretty clear, but nevertheless I think I’ll list a few guidelines just for the hell of it.

  1. Try to restrict yourself to productions you actually like. If you despise everything about anything involving the Olsen twins, then Full House is disqualified for you.

  2. I’m not looking for bad episodes per se, but things that make a given episode of an enjoyable series bad, particularly if they’re recurring themes, characters, sets, et cetera. In other words, don’t just say “Spock’s Brain”; do say, “Pavel Chekov’s haircut.”

  3. Try to explain why you hate it.

Buffy… I love the show.

I HATE that the characters never touch each other unless boinking or fighting. No one hugs their friends. No one playfully rough houses. No one freaking touches anyone else.
It’s so bad that they could actually build a plot point out of that fact. (Was Giles a manifestation of the First? Apaprently no one touched Giles in the couple of weeks after he returned to Sunnydale.)
This is such bullshit.

Also Buffy: when they hosted the Cantonese Slayer (season 5?), I was really peeved at how bad her accent was when she was speaking Chinese. It was almost as bad as Mike Myer/Tia Carrere in Wayne’s World. Could they not find a single Chinese actress in LA with a better accent than that? It’s not like that was a big part that required really careful casting.
