As a doc, I’ve had about a dozen “good saves” in my career where the patient was technically dead, and I rescusitated them, to have them return to complete functioning. In some cases if I hadn’t been there, someone else would have done it just as well, but in at least half of the cases, if I wasn’t there, it woudn’t have gotten done.
Does that count?
Man, ** Qadgop the Mercotan**, I was just gonna say something about bagging peoples’ groceries.
FWIW,
Karen Thompson lived down the street from the house I grew up in. Her Father had Multiple Scelorsis and her Mother was a hopeless alcholic so we sort of adopted her as a little sister. A few years ago, she was killed while walking home from work, by someone who simply wanted to know what it felt like to kill another human.
I was totaly blown away by the fact that she had a Garfield (fat cat) tatoo, and she contstantly carried around a spiral notebook to write in. These are two things I believe I influenced in her. I turned her into a Garfield fan in the early 80’s. The notebbok thing I didn’t know about untill her wake. I carry my own notebook around and brought it to her wake. When I pulled it out to keep score for cards, he best friend remarked about it, thinking it was Karen’s book. I smiled., and showed her it was indeed my notebook, but boy did it ever throw me for a loop.
