Things you kinda want to know that you don't really want to know

Kind of a, I dunno, selfish answer to the OP’s question, but… there’s a file about me at work. I know its location in a drawer, and it wouldn’t be too difficult for me to secretly peek into that file. But I actually kind of don’t want to know what’s in there.

What one of my ex-boyfriends is up to now. Specifically, I don’t want to know if he has any kids, because he would be an atrocious father.

When I got Internet access, I was actually quite surprised that he seemed to have no Internet presence whatsoever. AFAIK, he’s still alive; this was not the case with someone about whom I was also surprised to find out wasn’t online, and I recently found out that he died in the early 1990s. :frowning:

How old I’ll be when I die, and from what cause.

What sex between 2 very obese people looks like.

A very mundane example: When my computer is installing updates, and it says “don’t turn off your computer”, I wonder what will happen if I do. But I don’t want to know badly enough to try it.

Good one. I would never turn it off then but am usually anxious on the possibility of losing power at the exact wrong time.

I’ve always had a morbid curiousity in how certain murders happened and I am aware that there are true crime websites and books that could probably answer this, but I don’t seek them out. Ultimately, I think the knowledge would be too depressing and I am better off sticking with just the vague curiousity.

Usually nothing, you either have to start over, rollback, or pick up where it left off.

but… every now and then something goes screwy and it’s time grab a laptop and head to google
I kind of want to know what Oliver North kept hidden, I’m also sure I don’t.

Remember the “Psychic Hotlines” from the early 1990s? I was in college at the time, and one of my roommates swore that she saw a TV ad for one who would predict the day you would die.

I wouldn’t want to know that either.

How about the obvious?

I want to know when people are talking behind my back, but don’t really want to know what they are saying.

I thought she died about 5 years ago

What a lot of medical conditions (particularly skin disorders) look like. With Google Images, the answer is only a few mouse-clicks away. However, I have learned that I always regret looking at the photos.

Basic reporter skill: Don’t ask questions you don’t want to know the answer to. Because they’ll tell you, oh yes they will. And in greater detail than you every thought possible.

Protip: Never ask the investigator what evidence they have that the detained is a child pornographer. Not only will he show you, but he’ll also whip out the ziploc bag of (other persons) public hair the detained had in his ‘collection’ because the deputy figures you’d like to know.

I think you meant the other person’s *non-*public hair, n’est-ce pas?

It’s public now!

There a thread a few years ago where someone explaned how they used pieces of wood in socks to separate the flappy bits so they could actually connect the fun parts

I thought it was kinda sweet

Wow, I really didn’t want to know that.

Now I kind of want to know more, but really want to know less.

If someone who is very constipated happens to eat food that is contaminated with e coli, what happens?

Does the “dam break” so to speak and everything is carried away by the flow or does it find another way out (in which case…the only way…is…up ).

What people really think of me.
