I think the people who take the Pit as lisence to be seething, viscious assholes to other posters are pathetic, and that the entire concept that one utlizes a special place to spew his hatred toward other posters is immature and ill-befitting a board created in the spirit of fighting ignorance.

And I hate sports.

I don’t think that gets you into much hot water at the SDMB, now if you were Socially Conservative, watch out.

I have a few but, bit I don’t think I should admit to them on the SDMB.

Ah, yes, Rififi, named after the classic 1954 French noir, a great film. A long-time favorite, sadly it is gone.

Not so sadly, there is another decent bar in the same location, Club Electric Blue, a branch of the one in Pattaya. A little pricey for the Patpong area, though, but fun. (It’s actually in Patpong II.)

OK, that’ll do for planning my upcoming trip to Thailand. :stuck_out_tongue: In a previous post you mentioned Nana Plaza. I was there in April or May (my hotel was around the corner) and and yeah, it was kinda like walking through an anime strip. Way too Japaneses for my tastes.

Yeah, fiscal conservatism is actually not uncommon here, even if it’s not a majority opinion. There are lots of well-respected Dopers who could be considered fiscally conservative, and there have been plenty of intelligent and non-acrimonious discussions on the subject.

Social conservatism is certainly a more marginal position here, but even that won’t necessarily lead to flame wars in all cases. Depends how it’s expressed.

That’s another thing that depends on your timing. It’s a bad thing to admit in late September when they’ve completed a second-half run of 56-27 to grab the Wild Card.

But in the middle of October, when they’ve just lost the Divisional Series again, everyone is happy to know who the Yankee fans are. :slight_smile:
