When I torture, I rely strictly on methods described in the Bible, none of this new-fangled ‘water-boarding’ or taking cattle prods to the genitals for me! Of course, I make my whips at home using hides I tanned myself.
I use an iPhone 6 instead of a 6 Plus.
We
What we do is Metal Spinning. Still done with hand tools on a lathe. The old machines are solid, well built and well maintained, and paid for! We are a small shop and would love a CNC but there is no way we could ever pay off the $250,000
We use a lot of power tools and modern conviences where we can but could still operate after the zombies knock out the power grid.
You would appreciate theAmerican Precision Museum in Windsor, Vermont. It is located in the old Robbins & Lawrence Armory building, which manufactured many of the weapons use by the Union Army during the Civil War. They have a lot of the old machines used than, all run by water wheel energy in the old days, though most have been converted to electric motors now.
Leaves me logy.
For audio systems or guitars? If guitar amps, why are we SDMB Guitar Geeks not hearing about these in the GOGT (Great Ongoing Guitar Thread)? I am not playing much electric these days, but always interested to hear…
As for old-fashioned: I change guitar strings and get them up to range using a tuning fork ;). Once the strings are stretched and broken it, I revert to a digital tuner, so it is easier to align with other players…
Oh. Projectile weapons.
What did they make bows out of before then?
I don’t even write books.
I don’t even have sex.
I don’t even have an iPhone. And my cell phone has a keyboard with actual buttons that I don’t use.
Like I said I drink a lot.
I don’t even have a cell phone. And I barely use the land line.
I read this as “both of our CATS are stickshifts…” Enough internet for me today.
Hey, CW, how ya been?
My watch and all clocks in the house except one are analog. When I see a clock with a digital face, I mentally convert it to analog. I see/think in terms of “pie wedges” of time, so I have to picture the pie wedge to know how late/early I am.
I write in cursive, but sadly, no one can decipher it later. Including me.
To plant corn in a small area thats too small to use the big equipment but too big to plant by hand we use some old horse drawn farm equipment (although we pull it behind a lawn tractor).
An old 2 row planter for planting corn and a cultivator. Maybe 100 years old or more.
My wristwatch is a sundial.
P-i-t-a on the subway…
I record shows on a VCR. What do I win?
Hah! I have a record player you just wind! I play my collection of 78s on it.
Now, I also download music and play it on my computer, but I love my 78s.
Also, because we’re vegetarians who keep kosher, we cook a lot from scratch, including baking bread. Use the quick-rise yeast, though.
Quilting - I do my piecing and quilting by hand and most of the time I design the quilts on graph paper with colored pencils, although I sometimes resort to Electric Quilt 7.
Betamax, I assume?
Same here. Nowadays I can’t just rush out there and do everything in one fell swoop, however. I need to pace myself. Middle age sucks in this instance
I inherited a drawer full of kitchen gadgets, most of which still never see the light of day. I can’t bring myself to donate them.
