At least those are in my 5-hour energy drinks I seem to have every work day at about this time in the PM.
I just hope they are working and I’m not falling for some kind of placebo effect, they really do seem to perk me up and get me through the day better than coffee does.
I definitely feel a difference when I drink one. I set one beside the alarm clock whenever the Celtling has a bad night. Then when the alarm goes off, I drink it and hit “snooze”. The second alarm is still not fun, but it hasn’t made me cry like it used to . . . and I don’t get jet lagged the way I did when I tried this with Jolt soda.
I suspected what you were talking about when I read this.
I discovered these during our last series of performances: even after an exhausting day and little sleep the previous night, even in the middle of being horribly sick, these perked us all right up. I take one before I do stuff most evenings if I’m going to be out and about.
Caffeine doesn’t work awfully well for me, but this stuff sure does. I will continue using them as my happy wake-up tonic until we discover they cause cancer of the navel or something.
I’ve discovered I can get the same benefits of “5 hour energy” (or other energy drinks) just by combining a B12 vitamin with a caffeine pill for a miniscule fraction of the price! Not sure if taurine really does anything, but it’s also possible to buy taurine supplements too if that’s what floats your boat.
Oh yeah, if you want the sugar rush also, just mix about 50 grams of sugar into a half liter of water. Voila, the poor mans energy drink!
