Kiel, HQ of the Imperial German Navy ca. mid 19th century- WWI.
Both are located in Schelswig-Holstein on the Baltic side of the Jutland peninsula.
Leipzig. As usual with these threads, I have no idea why that one popped into my head.
Kaiserslautern. K-Town, as Americans refer to it.
Alten Schweren, Mecklenburg (where my German immigrant came from)
Essen for me also, simply because it is often a crossword puzzle answer.
